E-Class (W213) [Spyshots] 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W213)

The W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, sold from 2016 as a 2017 model. It succeeded the W212/S212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. The high-performance Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63S versions of the W213 have been available as well from 2016 (as a 2017 model), and these are the only versions with V8 engines.

Gosh, Mercedes is on a roll.

Trying to think which car started it all...

I know the dropping line came from the CLS, but what was the first current model with a WOW interior? The W222?

Yes the W222 was first car to show new Mercedes WOW look interior and now the W205 C-Class follows suit. I hope the next E-Class will follow same principal and have a brilliant well built luxuries interior

Car Magazine already hinted that the new E will get two large screens so I suspect it is going to get an S class like treatment on the interior

That would be quite a change in MB modelpolitics. Because from W140 on till W222 the S-Klasse dashboards were bespoke/unique for the S-Klasse only and differed from the E-Klasse. If E-Klasse is getting two screens, there won't be much room for differentation anymore.

Mercedes is keen to restore its reputation for creating the gold standard in cabin quality. Building on the S-class’s interior (pictured, right), the E will unleash a host of new features. It needs two full-size colour monitors to handle its complexity, with one even screening images of your hand to help you use the controlling touchpad without looking down! The sat-nav can guide you via real images, and the window tint adjusts to suit varying privacy needs. Efficient electric surface heating will eliminate some air vents

I agree with mick brisgau post. I think new e class cabin will be something different from the s class, more from c class but with a technological touch concerning the displays and maybe the touch pad seen in f 800 prototype.

I like the new C a lot, but I don't see me trading to it, at least not yet. I need to see the C450 and the C63, otherwise I'm going to drive the IS until the new 2017 E arrives. I'm more comfortable in that size car.

Mercedes-Benz plotting AMG Sport lineup to sit below fully-fledged AMG models
- report2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class AMG LineC450 AMG Sport to lead the wayA new report indicates Mercedes-Benz will introduce in a short while a sub-range of warm AMG Sport models.Designed to take on BMW M Performance and other similar rivals, Mercedes-Benz's AMG Sport cars will slot above the standard versions but below the fully-fledged AMG versions.
These cars will receive different exterior and interior styling along with uprated engines (both gasoline and diesel), bespoke chassis tuning and updated electronics. One common characteristic of all AMG Sport models will be the wider tracks similar to those of the full AMG versions. The newly established sub-range of models will encompass cars from the A, C, E and S families but also from the GLA, GLK, M (including ML Coupe/MLC) and GL lineups. The first model to pave the way will be the already rumored C450 AMG Sport packing an upgraded twin-turbo V6 3.0-liter sourced from the C400 but outputting an additional 34 bhp (25 kW) for a grand total of 367 bhp (274 kW). It is believed the model will be revealed later this year in both RWD and 4MATIC guises, possibly in October at the Paris Motor Show."

Sounds like the formula for an E500 successor.

Sure thing, what we have here are upcoming AMG tweeners.
An E450 AMG Sport with a power bumped 6-cylinder (400hp or better) would be great. If it has the handling of the E63 (or close) that would be awesome!
It could be a good threat to the Cadillac CTS-V sport. (another tweener) Cadillac and BMW started something good here...

I am little late in my reply about the two large screens in the 2017 E-Class.

If the W213 gets the two large screens you can bet the interior will get the grand royal treatment like no other E before it. The big question is will it get the quad center air vents like the S-Class. Whatever the case the next E-Class will have that coach-builder like quality and design as the new generation Mercedes models. I believe the interior will look like a scaled down Bentley. It might resemble the S mostly... I do not however believe it will be a click and paste job like the current 5 and 7-Series BMWs.

without question.
(OT Thinking about those screens... if the W213 E gets them, the next generation CLS most likely will also get them as well.)

Can you imagine what the next CLS interior will be like if the E will already be a huge upgrade over the current one? I'm going to try and hold out for the next E, but with the upcoming C450 that is going to be tough.
