E-Class W213 [Spyshots] 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W213)

The W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, sold from 2016 as a 2017 model. It succeeded the W212/S212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. The high-performance Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63S versions of the W213 have been available as well from 2016 (as a 2017 model), and these are the only versions with V8 engines.
If that render had some more distinctive rear and front lights the result would be different. Extending the lights into the bootlid is a good idea to achieve this IMO.

Some alternates from the W205 thread. :)

Looks like the real deal. Lets face it, imagining the E class conjures up way high expectations, but in reality the production model is invariably sedate. After all, the CLS is supposed to be the hip shaker of the mid range.

A longer, wider, bigger grilled, V12 E600 Maybach would be really nice. Something different from the entire E range, like the W124 E500 was.

i like the idea of a maybach model on the e class just like the amg models.
it would be a shame if there comes a E200 cdi maybach but if they make it an exclusive v8 model i like it.

Not on the E class because:

a) it would make a 'real' S600 Maybach seem less special when you can can get an E based Maybach and maybe even C Maybach in a couple of years

and/or

b) The Mercedes brand itself becomes less special because you won't be the man with a Mercedes E class, only with a Maybach E class.

What the car will be depend on who's might be interested to buy it.

Does the car aimed to customers who are behind the steering wheel or on the backseat ?

The car can either be based on the SWB, china-only LWB or having his own body style like the S-class.

Important Maybach market (China) might not like SWB based car compared to their own LWB. European and US market might prefer get an S-class then an LWB E-class, without thinking the LWB is build in China. Based the Maybach on this platform might either means the car will be "Made in China" or they will have to invest to be able to make this car in Germany.

a) so you think a s63 amg is less special because there is an c63 amg?
b) the maybach is not goung to sell in numbers and imo a "standard" s class is still as special as it was before the launch of the maybach

Yes, but has more to do with the fact that the S class has boat-like behavior. I want a sports car to be sporty and not just fast.

The way we look at uber luxurious cars is completely different than the way we look at sporty cars. A sporty car could be pretty much anything, in any class (apart from obvious non sporty cars like Vans and stuff). That's why AMG works and Maybach doesn't.

i have to agree on that, but imo its to early to say that its a fail
if they are going to offer some special options like magic body control on the maybach e class its imo a good idea.
but if its going to be something like designo is, its not a good idea.

I just hope that MB isn't homogenizing its entire lineup because C+S shoudn't =E i always liked the E class because it stood apart in terms of design language for a while like it still has that classic Mercedes feel

Agree.

The E range in US will no longer even have a regular v8 model (E 550). I would have my doubts on a v12 E class in any setting.

Even if it arrives, Maybach E will almost certainly be sold in China only, just like the LWB E Class. 400 (V6) and 500 (V8) are probably the only engines it will have.
