WOW.....I don't know what to say here. Are you we being taken for a ride, is this a gag or something? That interior is better than the E-Class interior and except for the tacked on looking screen it is perfection. Looks like a baby S-Class. Airmatic on a C-Class? Ugh....wait let me catch my breath.

Yes everything else, except the S-Class will looked dated interior wise. Maybe the screen we saw on the CLS facelift is telling us that all Mercedes' will now get a hugely upgraded interior. Yeah the GL and ML need help now. I'll just be glad when Mecedes gets all their vehicles on the same page inside and out, or at least up to the same level of quality/presentation.

I just can't believe the timing of this car. It seems like it may be presented at the L.A. auto show next month, at least to the press and then go public at the Detroit show in Jan? Where is the S65 AMG? What is going on at Mercedes?

Mercedes is bringing on their A-game with the new C Class. They should be applauded for doing precisely that. Ask yourselves, when was the last time a C Class debuts with new top-of-the-line switchgear instead of being inundated with hand-me-down switchgear from the E-Class? Never! Until now.

This C Class might finally be the 3-series beater that we have been waiting for. The only issues might be the now old school 7-speed transmission and certain engines at the bottom end of the range. The high-end models fitted with powerful engines and the 9-speed transmission will be tough to beat.

^ well done MB. They are upping the game and that means Audi and BMW will have no reason but to follow. Audi will come soon enough with the new A4, but BMW has to sit it out for a while with the F30. But it's no drama, I still very much like the F30 interior.

I'm sure AutoBild will bring us back into reality, and state that C Class with Airmatic is less comfortable than 3 Series with normal suspension.

Joking aside, the ultimate question is still here: Is the C Class A. baby Benz (mini S Class), or B. 3 Series-killer? And, can it be both things at the same time?

I agree completely. I was pondering replacing my IS with a new IS350 F-Sport (pending a drive), but I will wait now for sure. The AMG version of this car is going to be the shite! Do you realize what this means for the next E-Class? The current one is being squeezed out starting next year.

Once Mercedes flushes out the new C with a sedan, coupe, wagon, convertible and the does the same with the E, all on a proper E architecture this time, Mercedes will have finally gotten it right. No more tweener cars like the current E Coupe/Conv and the CLK.

Long as it handles as good, but rides better, that is what the market will reward. Not some balls out, hard riding car just to make numbers like these new Cadillacs. No excuses though, 9G from the start, updated engines, all in. No wait till next year like with the S-Class. If the C does have airmatic though I suspect it won't be a problem if the handling isn't razor sharp.

Impossible. Even the 3er itself has an identy problem in the sense that it has become far too soft even in M sport guise. You can't have a proper sporty car while not compromising the comfort side or vica versa.
MB drivers want luxury and comfort first and foremost, so this will be a proper little S class.

Wow, that interior! I know it's the full-specced version, but damn. That's what an M-B should be. That said, I hope still holds its own in a mid-spec set-up. Still not fond of the floating screen, but if they are saving development costs by having 2 screen sizes available and that money was then allocated into other areas, well, then it's money well-spent.

I especially like how the touch-pad is shaped....very futuristic and architectural. It reminds me of the terminal building if Incheon Airport in Seoul.

Mercedes needs to slam dunk the 9-speed transmission or they are going to lose valuable points in the head-to-head comparisons against the 3-series and the A4.

I don't know why Mercedes still hasn't managed to make their transmissions smooth, fast shifting, and responsive to down-change like the ZF 8-speeder..........

how much bigger will this new c going to be? imo a4 size is just nice. making it too big will kill the sales of the e especially from now till the release of the w213

I'm hoping this also means an early release. The current C is not moving.

Uh? The sales of the current C-class in NA are still very strong, even in the face of the 3-series. There wasn't even a blip in sales until just this past month.

This interior really surpassed me looks alot more jazzier than the 3 series in comparison, really love the interior door panels and im definitely digging that high center console it adds a much more luxury surrounding feeling, the stand up display is not as bad as i thought but i am curious to know why the HUD ad touchpad isnt in the S class

From AutoWeek:

Mercedes-Benz says the new C-class will be a significantly more advanced car than its predecessor in terms of construction, with a “best in class” weight figure and a level of structural integrity that it describes as being “unparalleled” in its class.

Among its features is a new lightweight body structure that uses a newly developed aluminum hybrid construction process that Mercedes-Benz claims will shave as much as 220 pounds over the current model depending on the engine it uses. Lightweighting is said to contribute to a 20 percent reduction in fuel consumption on certain models without any loss in power.

All of that is coming online for the 2015 model year S-class. So basically the tech isn't ready, but will be included on S-classes (along with the 9-speed transmission) by the time the C-class hits the streets.

I love HighestofHigh's .gifs. They're almost all taken from the VH1 show. Her name is Tiffany "New York" Pollard. I'm ashamed I know this.
