I still don't understand why the C's release is so premature. They took forever to show us the S-class and now BOOM out of nowhere we have a new C-class.

the answer is simple, the new 3 is flying , and merc needs to respond.and its safe to say the s does not have much competition.

I doubt that one will have more than 333HP;) The 306HP was probably good enough, but the 7G was reported to be a bit sluggish for the enthusiastic drive. Maybe 9G will bring improvements in that area?

Speaking of which, is there any test/review of the 9G?

Great time to make the announcement if you ask me. Mercedes is keeping up the momentum with new releases and set itself up for a strong 2014. I'm sure many would-be buyers of the 3-series or Audi A will now wait and see.

Wow I am a long MB fan and ill say this I was scared of the interior when I saw spy shots...Okay now today after seeing these pictures I am truly truly blown away...oh my God this is beyond even my highest wish or expectation..The interior is just amazing Mercedes are on a roll that is for sure..I don't want to sound fanboy but 3 series and this no ways...Today I drove a hybrid E300 and was thinking to buy it should I sell my 2010 E class.Well after seeing these shots I say the E can take a hike...WOW WOW WOW.

I might be premature, but I can't help thinking this W205 makes the current E-Klasse more or less obsolete.
Don't forget, the E has the edge in interior space. (All this makes me wonder whats going to happen with the W213)

I do feel a little annoyed as my E500 is scheduled for production in late November........it will arrive in February next year.

I do like the new C's interior. It's definitely a big step forward. The new switchgear looks very classy.

Sure W201, but W205 is growing (+ 9 centimetres wheelbase). It's going to be about the same size as W124 was. Never heard anyone complaining that this was too small.
I'm also very interested in which way MB is going with the next E-Klasse :)

First, congrats with a very fine enginechoice (y). Can understand your annoyment though. By the way, what new switchgear? ísn't it the same as in ML/E-Klasse?

The switches in the interior of the new C are of a new generation. Totally different from those of the face lifted E Class.

No?

BTW, it is clear to me that those terrible mobile phone radio controls units MB has used were completely outdated and needed to be replaced asap.

The problem is that the SLK, the SL, the ML, the GL, the E, the CLS, and the A/CLA/GLA have these radio controls. I don´t have any problems with the latter, as they are low range, or with the E range, as the replacement is two years away, but the roadsters and the SUVs deserve something better.

WOW.....I don't know what to say here. Are you we being taken for a ride, is this a gag or something? That interior is better than the E-Class interior and except for the tacked on looking screen it is perfection. Looks like a baby S-Class. Airmatic on a C-Class? Ugh....wait let me catch my breath.

Yes everything else, except the S-Class will looked dated interior wise. Maybe the screen we saw on the CLS facelift is telling us that all Mercedes' will now get a hugely upgraded interior. Yeah the GL and ML need help now. I'll just be glad when Mecedes gets all their vehicles on the same page inside and out, or at least up to the same level of quality/presentation.

I just can't believe the timing of this car. It seems like it may be presented at the L.A. auto show next month, at least to the press and then go public at the Detroit show in Jan? Where is the S65 AMG? What is going on at Mercedes?

Mercedes is bringing on their A-game with the new C Class. They should be applauded for doing precisely that. Ask yourselves, when was the last time a C Class debuts with new top-of-the-line switchgear instead of being inundated with hand-me-down switchgear from the E-Class? Never! Until now.

This C Class might finally be the 3-series beater that we have been waiting for. The only issues might be the now old school 7-speed transmission and certain engines at the bottom end of the range. The high-end models fitted with powerful engines and the 9-speed transmission will be tough to beat.

^ well done MB. They are upping the game and that means Audi and BMW will have no reason but to follow. Audi will come soon enough with the new A4, but BMW has to sit it out for a while with the F30. But it's no drama, I still very much like the F30 interior.
