Even worse when you look at the rears. On the freeway distinguishing between the 3er and 5er is a challenge at the best of times.
Go show someone a 3/5/7 and put them right next to each other, my money is on the fact that they won't know what each one is.

I'm curious that the W205 could steal some customers from the E class, as it goes on sale in about 15 months from now.

Thanks for the info Jimmy. Any info for the 2016 W213 E-Class ? I think the next E should have a breakthrough design, otherwise, what is the point of getting bigger in size ( so will the price). As the W205 will grow considerably in length ( + 90-100 mm to over 4700 mm) as well as in width, it will surely lure some W212 prospects into its' court. It will also be the far more modern offering. The hierarchy will be reestablished in 2016 when the W213 E-Class is introduced.

I would wait for the debut of the W205 at the Detroit autoshow 2014 before making the decision to jump into the new CLA.Information remains relatively sparse with regard to the W213 E-Class. One can presume that its' design language will be similar to that of the W205-in terms of proportions and architecture. The flank sculpturing as seen on the W222 and W205 will very likely also be applied to the W213 as this appears to be an important M-B "signature". It can be speculated that the W213 will grow marginally in size, its' length perhaps slightly exceeding the 4900mm mark, its' width perhaps in the 1870 mm vicinity.
Most interesting will be the issue of derivatives. Will the W213 spawn bonafide coupe and cabriolet versions (unlike the current C-Class-based E-coupe and cab) ? And will a future CLS be based on the W213-or will it move slightly upmarket and evolve into an S-Class derivative, making way for a CLS-type of car based on the W205 C-Class ?
rMercedes is really not going to let the C wither on the vine too long because I now think there will be a big drop in C-Class sales when the CLA first goes on sale, then it will level out IMO.
When they say it will be at Detroit I bet that is for the press, but not the public show and then the public debut will be at Geneva in March. Same as the CLA.
I truly hope Mercedes will finally put the E coupe and convertible on the right platform this time. They should be priced above the E sedan, not at the same and/or below. Last true E coupe was 1995's C124 E320 and I think everyone knows that now.
I just can't wait to see the sales numbers in the last quarter of this year. Mercedes should be on fire by then for real.

Thanks Merc1. What I hope for at Detroit autoshow is the picture of the real C class and the specs. You know that I'm waiting for the diesel engine for this W205. Of course, I can't pay at any price , so a well equipped diesel W205 should not be more than $45K out of the door is my wish.

I prefer the GLA to the GLK. By the way, I'm not the SUV guy, I prefer sport sedan, and would like to try diesel.Do you like the GLK? The GLK250 just went on sale.

I'm not excited about the interior.Perhaps we need to see the interior picture in high res. We'll see.Larson renders and Autobild info:
1400kg for the base model. -70kg compared to current generation.
Fenders, doors, roof, hood, and trunk will be all aluminum
Trunk space for T-model increases from 485l to 500l.

Not sure if I like the interior. Looks too similar to the A, B and CLA.
