That proves my point and is all the more reason why it shouldn't be called a 4-Series. It isn't a new or different series at all.
M
No it isn't.
So what do we do now? What's the next step?!?!

Petition. We want 3 Series badge back.![]()
Haha, the next step is to keep it calm and civilised. Thanks!
Wasn't the E92 close to being called 4-series? I think the E92 is quite different to the E90.
Seriously, though, I don't think the problem lies in the naming or the price. It just seems like the customers want something that doesn't look like a 3 Series. Why isn't that the case of A5 or C Coupé? Maybe rarity plays a role. There are more 3 Series that other car in this class, a 3 Series Coupé is just not enough special anymore.
I totally disagree, I will order one as soon as the books open. Why it's not special to you is respected and if that is the way you feel, I cant do nor say anything to change your view at that.
IMO the least special coupe ever to be produced by a German car manufacturer is the current C-class coupe, I like it don't get me wrong its beautiful, but its a really lame-ass design in differentiation to its sedan siblings bar-none. In my o'l eyes same again to my favorite midsize Audi, the A5, LOVE IT!
But the A4 Sedan family resemblance is as bright-as-daylight.
Opinionated? Off course! Am I satisfied of how the 4er is going to look like? Hell YES, YES, YES and I want one ASAP!![]()
I think it is render, but very, very close to real thing.
As much as I love BMWs, and this design, the car really is nothing more than a 3-Series with a different badge. It really doesn't deserve the "4-Series" designation as the 6er does vs the 5er.
Ok, i think some of the members have already given their explanation as to why we agree to Merc1 that the new 4er doesn't deserve a new/different designation. And here is my explanation to you sir. That proves my point and is all the more reason why it shouldn't be called a 4-Series. It isn't a new or different series at all.@Merc1
but 6 series is 20k euro more than 5 series, and 4 will be 1 or 2k more.
that's the point from our view.Merc1 and myself were saying that it's disappointing that when BMW choose to give the coupe a different series number to the 3 Series for the first time in its history, they don't take the opportunity to differentiate the looks a bit more.
Yes, that's the same question too.I completely agree the 6er and 5er look worlds apart. That's my point!
The upcoming 2er is clearly quite a bit different from the 1er too.
When other lines in BMW's line up are clearly different, why not the 3er and 4er?
Audi A5 looks nice, but I didin't consider it - probably one of reasons is that is is too similar to A4 and is "common" car because of that. BMW E92 looks different to E90 from every angle and gives much more premium feeling. I can see E90 on every corner, but E92 is still quite rare. Despite E92 is old, it still looks fresh and special. BMW F30 is already quite common and because F32 looks like F30 without rear doors, it wont be as special as E92 was in 2006 IMO.
Yes, i also agree with this that A5 is too similar to A4. But we already know that from the first place Audi didn't call the A5 as A4 Coupe, right? If Audi did that maybe we can complain about it now when they changed the A4 Coupe to the A5.Wasn't the E92 close to being called 4-series? I think the E92 is quite different to the E90.

So are we (me, Merc1, Betty, and other members).Back to the topic:
*I never expected nor was any expectations created that the BMW 4-series is going to be a sudden absolute and totally different car/product in looks, drive train, setup, practicality etc. to the previous generation of BMW 3-Series coupes and cabriolets.
I think this is the main focus of our "party". Different point of view.Back to the topic:
*The 4 Series make sense (again to me) as a number that tells me in a normal understandable and perfect legit way that this the BMW 4-Series is Nothing more and also Nothing less than the F30 BMW 3-Series sedans extension into broadening the Famous and absolutely Brilliant (IMO) Iconic - BMW 3 Series - Coupe and Cabriolet - as was always the case with previous generation 3er coupes and cabrio's.
Yeahhh i think in the end it is just a marketing game.Bavarian Marketing Works
Yes, so we are agree to disagree. That's what a forum like this for. To share opinions & see each other point of view. No one is right & no one is wrong. Each to his own.Why it's not special to you is respected and if that is the way you feel, I cant do nor say anything to change your view at that.
