The problem with any design language is eventually it can become stale or interpreted by another manufacturer.
The BMW quad headlight is much imitated now.

Sorry to disagree, but the quad light being stole or imitated by other manufacturers? Alfa Romeo were doing quad lights even before BMW and by the 70's and 80's both Alfa and BMW were doing loads of car with quad headlights. So I don't think the quad round headlights is a BMW exclusive, altough I do understand how it has become instantly recognizable with the brand.

I think the Hofmeister kink is much of a BMW trademark and there I agree, it has been terrible copied mostly by asian manufacturers.

Greetings :)

Sorry, was not my intention at all. Just that (read my write-up above the photos) the quad headlights is, however weird always recognized as BMW. And the whole identity thing mentioned.:)

Oh and the baby is the love child of a BMW-fanboy + girl:D

I knew it. No LED blinkers, LED brakes, etc, etc.

I would like to know the reason. But facts please.

1. So I can afford the 435i I am about to order - also what goes hand-in-hand with this is the fact these days on 'Premium Cars' not even the Windscreen is standard anymore:rolleyes:

I know not having LED's for the excuse of saving it for the facelift isn't enough, but it's probably the case. Seriously i don't think LEDs are that much more expensive than bulbs.

LED brake and indicator lights have been around for 16 years now, even non premium brands like Toyota, Kia, Hyundai have been using them in the recent years. The old E46 facelift has LED brake and indicator lights as standard. So it seems like a backward step from BMW. It is a small thing, it does detract from the overall design of the car.

agree. not having them standard i think is reasonable, but for LEDs to be unavailable is pretty ridiculous, i mean 3er and 4er are not exactly low end models. but by history, the E46 had no LEDs pre LCI, then LED tail lights for LCI; the E90 had no LEDs pre LCI, then LED blinkers and tail lights for LCI, looks like this will continue... i know this is pretty stupid, E46 came out in year 1998 and it's now 2013, but looks like they like this tradition.. well, honestly though, the biggest aesthetic change they could make without doing a major overhaul of re-design (like MB) would be putting LED lights at LCI. So they probably thought a brand new model is fresh enough, so save some freshness for the LCI... which, compared to Audi for eg, their facelifts don't look a lot fresher than pre FL, i actually think the pre FL A4 doesn't look any worse or older than the FL A4, so this is probably BMW's tactic, sucks, but works for them.

As much as I love BMWs, and this design, the car really is nothing more than a 3-Series with a different badge. It really doesn't deserve the "4-Series" designation as the 6er does vs the 5er.
