Evoque [Spy Shots] Range Rover Evoque Cabriolet

The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, also known as the Range Rover Evoque or the Land Rover Evoque, is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV developed and produced by Jaguar Land Rover. The first generation Evoque was produced from July 2011 until 2018 in three and five-door versions, with both two-wheel and four-wheel drive. The second generation of the car went into production in 2018.
And BMW will jump on that bandwagon and then say they created a new niche, no doubt throwing in the word "dynamic" at every opportunity.

I can see it now:
"The already dynamic BMW X1, a vehicle that showcases the EffecientDynamics concept, has been elevated to new levels of dynamism by the addition of a dynamically operated dynamic folding metal roof. With the roof down, the X1 Cabrio allows for nearby drivers to see how dynamically fat and moronic you are."

^ That's pure Gugulethu gangsta right there... the Evoque Cabrio's more Diepkloof Diamond methinks.

2016 Range Rover Evoque Cabrio spotted undisguised while shooting ad
On sale next year
Several low resolution spy shots with an undisguised Range Rover Evoque Cabrio have surfaced ahead of next year’s market launch.

The pictures were discovered by Facebook user Ferd specialized in car-related scoops and now he has stumbled upon an undisguised orange Evoque Cabrio participating at an ad shoot. There's not much to talk about in terms of design as the body will be largely carried over from the three-door Evoque, but obviously with a soft top and a different rear end hosting a built-in spoiler.

Attempting to succeed in a niche where the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet has failed, the open-top Evoque will carry over the engines and gearboxes of the standard version which was facelifted several months ago and gained an aluminum-made Ingenium TD4 engine with 150 PS & 180 PS. There's also going to be a 240 PS Si4 turbocharged gasoline engine.

Deliveries should kick off in the first quarter of 2016.

On sale next year

In case you have forgotten, the attached spy photo shows Land Rover is dead serious about coming out with a Range Rover Evoque Cabrio.

Spotted undergoing final testing in Dubai, the open-top Evoque will go on sale next year and aims to be an eye-grabber by adopting a soft top combined with a crossover body. Land Rover is describing it as the "world's first premium compact SUV convertible" and they have previously tested it 40 meters below the streets of London in a 42-km long network of Crossrail tunnels.

It's obviously based on the three-door variant from where it will largely carry over the body, but the fixed metal roof will be chopped off to make room for an electrically-retractable soft top while the rear end will gain a spoiler. The interior cabin will be sourced from the regular Evoque from where the cabriolet variant will borrow the engines, including the 150 PS & 180 PS TD4 diesels and the beefier 240 PS Si gasoline motor.

Look for an official reveal in March 2016 at the Geneva Motor Show, with sales to commence shortly thereafter in time for summer.

Land Rover Evoque Cabrio wireframe model

Range Rover is previewing the Evoque Convertible by six wireframe scale models in downtown London.

Created by the company's design team, the wireframe models are 1:1 scale representations of the upcoming production model which will be unveiled next month. They are constructed out of aluminum and finished in a range of vibrant colors.

In a statement, Land Rover Design Director and Chief Creative Officer Gerry McGovern said "The Range Rover Evoque Convertible is perfectly suited to the urban surroundings of a city like London and it's the perfect place to showcase the world's first luxury compact SUV convertible. The locations chosen reflect the refined and luxurious lifestyle of an Evoque Convertible customer - two attributes this vehicle delivers in abundance."

What a stupid vehicle.

What's stupid about it? If this is stupid than most cabrios are stupid, unlike all of the other SUV cabrios this actually looks good, I believe it will be very popular, it will be a hit with the ladies, which in turn will lead to BMW, Audi and Mercedes cutting the roofs off there own offerings to compete.

Look how ugly it is, no wonder it failed.

You are right about the others .....they will follow if this is successful.

Welcome back btw ......I'm sure you've learned your lesson

The looks are acceptable. It's like a beefy A3 or Golf cabriolet. Women will love it but guys are likely to find it too cute.

How about fitting roof boxes, carrying bikes or skis on it, like you mention ad nauseam on the Tesla model X thread?

ZERO coherence :wacky::wacky::rolleyes:

What a stupid vehicle.

I agree! And when (occasionally) off road what a dusty interior...sneeze! And all that grit, dust, soot and grime in every nook and cranny also between the stitching of the leather seats!!!:grumpy::wtf:

They had an Orange one behind closed doors at the IAA.
Will it be successful? I think it would be because the Évoque is that type of vehicle and has a strong customer base that would identify with the Cabrio.

Will it lead to other manufacturers following?
This I am not sure of as I said the Évoque is perfect for removing the roof others are not designed to have the roof taken off as an afterthought. The proportions to become a Cabrio do not lend well on many SUVs because of their specific glasshouse shapes. I have seen an X6 Cabrio aftermarket of course and it was awful.
