Evoque [Spy Shots] Range Rover Evoque Cabriolet

The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, also known as the Range Rover Evoque or the Land Rover Evoque, is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV developed and produced by Jaguar Land Rover. The first generation Evoque was produced from July 2011 until 2018 in three and five-door versions, with both two-wheel and four-wheel drive. The second generation of the car went into production in 2018.
what's next...? :D

Range Rover Evoque Cabrio concept - 24.2.2012

Evoque SVR could happen
British media is reporting the Range Rover Evoque Cabriolet will go on sale sometime this year and should cost around £45,000.

It was at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show when Land Rover introduced the Range Rover Evoque Cabriolet concept but without any word about a production version. However, a spy image depicting a prototype emerged on the web last month, thus indicating the Evoque is about to lose its fixed metal roof to replace it with a retractable fabric soft top. It is believed Land Rover didn't give the model the green light right away because they wanted to thoroughly analyze the model's business case as the report suggests there weren't any issues regarding engineering the car which could have delayed its launch.

Chances are the car will be shown in production specification at the end of June during the Goodwood Festival of Speed with a design that will closely mirror the concept. It will boast a roll-over protection system clever enough not to activate during off-roading, but most likely very few open-air Evoques will actually leave the tarmac.

The report also mentions Land Rover through its Special Vehicle Operations division could be cooking up a high-performance Evoque that could wear the SVR badge in the same vein as the Range Rover Sport SVR.

It actually looks kinda... cute.

It's basically an Audi A3 Convertible Allroad.

What concerns me about this car is passenger protection. I would rather it have permanent roll hops than pop-up one. For example, I would not be caught driving a Nissan Murano CrossCovertibe down a mountain road. I'm not convinced my head would be protected should the car roll over.

The world's elite carmakers have been using pop up roll bars for over 20 years now, starting with the Mercedes SL. I think they've got it under control from a safety standpoint.

I would not be caught driving a Nissan Murano CrossConvertible full stop.

The Évoque will be interesting to watch it could become a trailblazer or then it could become a joke...

That's a blimey cool teaser. Range Rover Cabrio & Cross Rail Project = Hurray to British engineering and manufacturing. So that's the confirmation then, it will be on sale in 2016.

Although it's blasphemy, it's a car variant that very much suits Land Rover but also a bright reflection of how individual car buying has become. We are way past the days of only being able to chose between three car variants: Sedan, Estate, Coupe.

Volvo showed off a Cross-Country sedan earlier this year and although many people are disinterested, a car like that would sell like crumpets if it had a Range Rover or Jaguar badge.

Wait until it starts selling to all those yummy mummies, and then you'll see BMW lop the top of an X1, Audi butcher the Q3 and Mercedes do something to whatever they have. It's a good looking vehicle, hard not to be when it's an Evoque.

We don't have wifes, girlfriends or children. Kiwirob is the only one here familiar with these strange things.

We know you don't. BTW girlfriends and wives are not the same at all.

Been there , evaluated that...

This is the precursor to the first X5.
The BMW Z18. In 1995 it was a vehicle ahead of its time.

Not even close Scott the Z18 was a two door jacked up sports car, nasty looking as well, not the same as the Evoque cabrio at all.

People have been chopping roofs off Range Rovers since they first rolled out the factory in the 70's, some looked really good, some were as nasty as the Z18.
