Panamera [Spy Shots] Porsche Panamera Thread II (Spy pics & info)

The Porsche Panamera is a mid to full-sized luxury car (E-segment or F-segment for LWB in Europe) manufactured and marketed by Porsche. The Panamera name, as with the Carrera name, is derived from the Carrera Panamericana race.
Haha, now that's funny..
This I am gone tell a friend of mine, he got the 911 996 from his father
:D

The Porsche Panamera will arrive in dealerships later next year and will be offered with three different engine choices. The base V6 models will start at $127,000 while the V8 turbo all-wheel-drive model will start at $198,000. The Panamera Hybrid will arrive in 2011.
According to German magazine AutoBild, the base 2010 Porsche Panamera will be powered by a 3.6 liter V6. That will be followed by a 4.8 liter V8 producing 405-hp and a turbocharged version that will produce 520-hp. The engines will be available with Porsche’s new optional PDK dual-clutch gearbox.

AutoBild sources said that the hybrid Panamera will be powered by a 300-hp V6 gasoline engine with a 100-hp electric motor. Sources also say that a V10 from the Carrera GT as well as a V12 TDI from Audi R8 concepts may be available if there is enough demand.
A 3.6-liter V6 is due in 2010, followed by the hybrid in 2011. Also available, should customers demand it, is the high-output V10 from the Carrera GT, as well as Audi’s potent V12 TDI.

No way that is correct, not even in Euros. It certainly isn't USD.

Somehow I don't think the Panamera is going to be the success that people envisaged it to be.

Launching a new model with so much headwind (a world that is much more green conscious, slowing global economy and the US in recession) is going to be extremely challenging. To add to the problem, the Panamera's looks and dimensions are equally challenging.

I have always maintained that the Panamera is too large and therefore will be compared to the S Class and the 7 series. With the new 7 series out of the blocks and the facelifted S Class around the corner. Things do not look good for the Panamera.

The Cayenne was launched in the face of an unprecedented economic boom, relatively cheap oil, and SUV's were the must haves (even I had one!). The situation is very much different now...........................

The V6 hybrid model may help sales. But it's not going to be enough.

I have high hopes for this car ... I am dam sure it will handle but if they get the looks right .. it will be a massive hit in my country.

I hope it is wrong. $127,000 for the version powered by a 3.6L VW engine is just down right stupid.

Prices are wrong. The official prices were introduced in euros last week and now these stupid American bloggers/auto sites have converted the figures to dollars believing that converted sum is what Porsche will charge in the US.:t-crazy2:

The base price will be just under $/€80 000 while the top of the line version will cost $/€125 000.

I figured as much. How dumb. I cringe everytime I see a thread on MBWorld and other sites quoting and converting euro prices.

The S-class is monsterous in size. The Panamera may have the same width but will definitely be shorter. Too bad I can't locate the dimensions that leaked last year. But the bottom line is that it will NOT be an S-class competitor, the Panamera is a sport sedan and not a long distance cruiser. The Germans are comfort orientated while the Panamera will be aimed at people prioritizing performance. As we know a coupe shaped rear compromises space in the rear which is why the Porsche decided to make the car bigger than the CLS which is quite a cramped car. Not only do Porsche want the car to be fast but practical to use on a daily basis as well.

It's been developed for the purpose of retaining loyal Porsche customers who have to look elsewhere for a top performing four door car. BMW M5 is the real target here since it has long been the choice for sports enthusiast selling their 911 for something more practical. Everything Porsche does is at the top of it's segment in terms of performance and the Panamera will not an an exception. It will get the most capable four door car money can buy and naturally it will be better than the M5, E63 and RS6. The car will be a mega hit since people have been craving for a four door sports saloon from Porsche since 10-20 years back.

I'm serious, the Panamera is only slightly shorter than a S Class or a 7 series.

If you have a copy of the June issue of the UK magazine CAR, even Dr Wolfgang Porsche said in the interview that the Panamera is a 7 series.

I don't doubt the Panamera will have class leading dynamics. But it should have been smaller. Slightly larger than a 5 series or an E Class. The 989 4 door Porsche concept from 17 years was probably the right size.

L, W, H, Wheelbase

Autobild dimension figures for the Panamera

Panamera: 4,980mm x 1,987mm x 1,381mm x 3,110mm

M5: 4,855 mm(L) x 1,846 mm 1469 mm x 2889 mm

S-class(SWB): 5076 mm x 1,871 mm x 1,473 mm x 3,035 mm

Ok, I guess it's quite a space shuttle:D Weight figures have said to be 1,800kg for the base model and 1,950kg for the top of the line Turbo version. Bare in mind that a base S320 weigh 1,955kg so just because the Panamera is of brand size doesn't mean that it will weigh as much as the S-class. It shouldn't be a pig, Sport luxury seem to be the aim here similar to the Veyron. I do hope that Porsche has worked on some mysterious architecture, aerodynamics and suspension that will defy the laws of physics like the Audi R8 and BMW X6. So it's not over yet.

Can't wait for this beast!:t-drive::icondrool

A table I leeched off another forum:

5039 / 1902 / 1491/ 2990 BMW 7
5076 / 1871 / 1473/ 3035 Mercedes S
5062 / 1894 / 1444/ 2944 Audi A8
4980 / 1987 / 1381/ 3110 Porsche Panamera

Judging by the width and the wheel base this car must be a spaceship with very generous cabin space. I desperately need to see one of these mules in real life cause the car seem to be huge, but the dimensions do seem odd though and don't add up properly. Maybe Porsche have designed the Panamera be the Veyron of sedan transporting people in insane speed/traction but in a very comfortable manner. Sport luxury in a way rather than a track racer like the RS4.

Tail lights aren't very accurate and that roof line is off on so many levels. The same applies to the doors, the car will look much sleeker than that.

Following this thread page by page .. it seems like Hassan is the only excited about this car ... others are like ... well I was waiting for it to see how ugly it turns out ...

I still kind of have high hopes for this car ... although everything is pointing the opposite way ...

We approaching the FEP-stage:eusa_danc:eusa_danc:eusa_danc. Porsche are now driving around the car with the final interior. All i can say is wow, the car is truly a spaceship with an insanely spacious cockpit featuring large buttons and an oversized cup holder. Hopefully they'll undress the exterior as well revealing the true shape of head and tail lights. :)
