Panamera [Spy Shots] Porsche Panamera Thread II (Spy pics & info)

The Porsche Panamera is a mid to full-sized luxury car (E-segment or F-segment for LWB in Europe) manufactured and marketed by Porsche. The Panamera name, as with the Carrera name, is derived from the Carrera Panamericana race.
^thats not good enough

What? You don't like the Soviet spycam in the front bumper?:D

Although the chop is highly similar to the real deal there will obviously be some differences. Computerized illustrations seldom captures the full appearance of a car.

Sure you are permitted to vent your opinions but that doesn't mean throwing out tantrums all the time, after all you're not a troll, right?;)

Absolutely right. And I still hope I can laugh about my reactions from the past, when I see the real deal.
I'm kind of happy they at least didn't make another sedan. We have enough of those!!

I am slowly developing LOVE towards this car .... I guess I like it after all. A friend of mine has a deposit on one of those.

I think it'll be a good battle. Hopefully! I hope BMW go all out with the next M5 because it could be the last of the great generation of Performance vehicles with the changing industry...

..until the new F10 M5 comes along to crush this heavyweight
Porsche cannot win from BMW with over 20+ years of experience with supersedans

Well Ferrari and Lamborghini were midengine experts for over half a decade and Porsche kicked their asses with the CGT. So giving BMW a tough time shouldn't be a problem. The M5 is the Panameras only reason for existence. During the latest 20 years the M5 has been the choice for Porsche lovers forced to sell their 911 because of practicality, so you be damned sure that the Panamera won't be a joke. It has an important purpose and it will fulfill it. With the Panamera Porsche will keep those customers in the company. Read the Panamera principle on the first page. Porsche horse powers are felt on the road meaning that the car will be, just like the 911, highly efficient at getting power to the ground.

Porsche engineers are the wizards or the automotive world so weight will be countered in one way or another. Look at the R8, heavy on paper but impressively capable in reality.

Ohh god ... I was expecting some new revealing spyshots ... not a a "virtual" comparison between 2 cars that doesn't exist till now.

Spy Shots: More details on Porsche’s Panamera

Updated with new spy shots.
Whether you love it or loathe it, Porsche’s new Panamera sedan is due to hit the streets in 2009 and is expected to change the performance sedan market forever. Buoyed by the success of the Cayenne SUV, Porsche’s managers have seen fit to put their famous badge on a four door car measuring approximately as much as a Mercedes S-class. Thanks to new reports coming out of Germany we can finally reveal everything you wanted to know about the Panamera, from its dimensions to the engine range.

The production Panamera is a large car – it’s almost five meters long and two meters wide and the base version weighs in at around 1800kg. Owners of the top-of-the-line 4.8L V8 Turbo model will be looking at a kerb weight of almost 2 tons. Porsche will launch the Panamera with three engine choices – a 3.6L V6 with 300hp, a 4.8L V8 with 405hp, and a 4.8L Turbo model with approximately 520hp. Even with the base model you’ll be able to hit 250km/h on the Autobahn, but if you decide to buy the Turbo you can nudge 300km/h, according to Autobild.
Porsche will use the Panamera to showcase its commitment to green motoring with the introduction of a hybrid model using the 3.6L V6 mated to a 110hp electric motor. Porsche’s hybrid drive system will allow drivers to use any combination of the two engines, much like today’s Toyota Prius.
Base prices will begin at €80,000 for the V6 RWD model and go up to €125,000 for the Turbo AWD variant. Porsche will expand its workforce by almost 1,000 to cater for Panamera production and the company hopes to sell 30,000 units a year. Sales will begin in early 2009 but only the V8 models will be available at first. You’ll have to wait until 2010 for the V6 model and 2011 for the long-awaited hybrid variant. The Panamera will also get Porsche’s upcoming 7-speed dual-clutch technology, though the company will have been beaten to the market by everyone from Nissan to BMW. Also available to customers will be adjustable shock absorbers and a number of sports modes to tune the character of the car.
On tap are a number of Audi/Volkswagen-sourced engines such as the V8, V10, and V12 TDI that could make their way into the Panamera depending on customer demand. Also available is the V10 originally used in the Carrera GT, though it’s likely Porsche will wait a couple of years before launching a model with this engine, if at all.
Early reports are also claiming the interior is typical Porsche but that the seating space inside the Panamera is very comfortable, even for four long-limbed adults. We’ll have to try it ourselves to believe it, but this may be the reason why Porsche had to make it so long.

Great to hear. In the end I think that it has the potential of winning you over. :usa7uh:

I know that Hassan .. am 100% sure i ll be sold once i drive it ... But i needed the cool look with the great drive .. I hope it looks good when all those tapes are pealed with the right set of rims. I really like Porsche marketing and selling techniques. Imagine in UAE, they are the only dealer that you can log onto their web site, tick the options you like and it will give you the prices regardless which dealer you buy the car in ... thats not the case for other german brands.

True. IMO Porsche has the best website of any manufacturer. Without any annoying flash UI you can easily and quickly find out what you want about any of their cars and the same goes for the technical details unlike other manufacturers which require you to download PDF files as such. Function over form just like with their cars. Superb website, very easy to navigate and use.

Porsche Panamera Battles Aston Martin Rapide at the Ring

Scheduled for an official presentation at the 2009 Geneva show, here are two all-new four-door coupés testing at the challenging Nürburgring. Both, the fourth range from Porsche, known as the Panamera, and the all-new Aston Martin Rapide, are developed to be strong competitors to the Mercedes CLS and the future Audi A7.
Though the Panamera takes over design elements from the 911 range, there will be significant differences, too: While the first has always been to keep its rear-mounted boxer engine, the newcomer will have a choice of three front-mounted motors, though set back to the centre of the car as much as possible. The entry-level unit will be Volkswagen’s 3.5-litre six-cylinder unit developing 300 bhp, while Porsche’s own drivetrain will be a direct-injection eight-cylinder petrol engine, available in naturally-aspirated guise (350 bhp) and with twin-turbo (560 bhp).
That should be enough to beat out the competition for a while: Mercedes’ CLS 63 AMG comes up with “only” 514 bhp. However, should Stuttgart make the CLS even stronger, Zuffenhausen would strike back with the Porsche GT’s 700-bhp ten-cylinder unit ...
The target for the Panamera is to be a true sportscar while at the same time it shall be a family-car for every-day use with four full seats, easy access to the rear and a luggage compartment of around 450 litres. When it hits the road in 2009, Porsche hopes to be able to sell 20 000 units annually – and to jump over the barrier of 100 000 sold cars per year.
Yet more exclusive will be the new four-door from England: Following the Rapide Concept shown at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit back in 2006, Aston Martin is now coming up with the real machine. Former owner Ford had put the project on hold when they decided to sell the biggest pack of shares. After selling this to the group lead by David Richards, one of the first decisions was to revive the project and start developing the production version Rapide. Together with the body, the DB9 will provide its platform and its V12-engine. The latter will be tuned to 480 bhp while it delivers 450 bhp in the DB9. The car is believed to be released in 2010.
