You need a racing form, the kind you get at a dog track or at the horse races to keep up with all the 911 models.

True...

But then again, Porsche has a history of pumping out version after version of their model lines. Perhaps that is but one factor that makes Porsche such an immensely fascinating brand. I've loved Porsche since I was a wee lad and began devouring literature on their products from elementary school...and onwards. And now quickly approaching 70 years of age, I remain a student. I love that. There are amazing tidbits of information available not only for the 911 cars, but also for the 356s'. Not to mention the 914/916, 924/944/968... So many extremely rare, obscure variants. So many new, previously unknown things to discover. And that is simply GREAT !

As if the waiting lists and sold-out allocations at Porsche aren’t enough, now they’re really starting to milk this special edition scheme by charging ridiculous money for “exclusive” versions of regular models. Deposits must be flying in. Great way to boost cash flow and profit margins.

Yeah, I know I ought to be cynical with all these new iterations of 911s, but I just can't. Being middle-aged may also have a lot to with me embracing these new editions despite know full-well they are money-grabs.

During the 991.2 run, half of all 911 production was GT cars. I imagine this trend will only continue.
Very interesting - just for my own understanding, when you say "GT" cars do you mean this in the pure sense of Porsche's Weissach-developed "proper" GTn cars or does this include GTS models? As I recall, 991.2 GTS was a comparatively common model.

Only cars from the GT department (GT2/3 + RS)

Fun "throwback" fact:

The 1960 Porsche 356B 2000 GS Carrera GT. 2L flat-4. 175 PS (+ the über-über rare 182 PS "performance kit" option). Official top speed 220 km/h (which was "understated").
