Agreed, as the CLS has more or less been the debutant of the respective new MB idiom since the C219, I have a feeling the new CLS will again introduce the new idiom which will be passed on to the W223..albeit the E Coupe has sort of introduced it anyways, in the form of the sensually pure body etc..have to say that I'm not a fan of the CLS being the first to introduce new designs, it should be the S Class, but unfortunately thats the way it has been for 2 generations now..so all in all, I reckon the new S will display an extremely reduced design idiom for sensual purity 2.0The current CLS was the first to adopt the anti-wedge and dropping shoulder line.
The S, C (and E with its own interpretation) followed suit. The anti-wedge profile really adds presence, I would love that design element to stay. Something tells me the dropping line will disappear in favor of the "sensual purity" theme. I am expecting smaller headlights (face/lift gave clues to this) and taillights.
I am also expecting the W223 to move even further upmarket, especially on the interior. (The bar will be raised yet again)
It will probably be up there with the Bentley Mulsanne for example, very fine details.
Yes, a classic, Frau Storp in the backseat of the sedan, so she doesn't notice how fast Dr. Storp is driving...Some sad news from MB Passion, is that the chief engineer Dr. Storp will retire at the end of this year. Still remember the interview in the S Coupe.
Wow, a new factory dedicated to the S Class, is this going to be in Sindelfingen as well? The factory for the new S is already under construction, and should be finished in the fall of 2019.

I wonder if this will be a bit like the VW Phaeton factory that the owners of the S-class will get a more bespoke feeling of viewing their cars been made in a different factoryThe factory for the new S is already under construction, and should be finished in the fall of 2019.

Agreed, and why not for the flagship luxury model, it will definitely add a lot more individuality, as this has never happened before..it may also be to do with capacity reasons of course.I wonder if this will be a bit like the VW Phaeton factory that the owners of the S-class will get a more bespoke feeling of viewing their cars been made in a different factory
A new factory for the S_Class? Yikes!!! They can't possibly be planning to build less versions of the next S if they're building a new factory right??
M
Is Daimler expecting an increase in the sales of the W223 to justify for the construction of the new factory? It requires a huge investment to build a new factory and I am just curious .
I think it's more to accommodate possible electric versions of the S-class or the previous plant will be used to for new model lines. Maybe both?![]()
