A-Class (W176) [Spy Shots] Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG Spied

The W176 model was introduced at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show officially as a subcompact executive / C-segment model for the first time after being a supermini / B-segment for fifteen years.
Size wise it may be the 5th generation, but the centrifugal electro hydraulic acuator
seems to be mounted differently? :)

You simply can't tell that is a Mercedes.

Audi worried about the power of the A45?

For our swedish members. Base price in Sweden for A45 AMG is 499.000 kr.

That's a AUD$25000 premium (just over $25000 USD) for the A45 over the A250. Quite a hefty sum really, and I'm sure MB Australia will be trying to keep it somewhere between 15k to 20k.

Yes, the price is close to BMW 1M/RS3 in Sweden.

Now that you mentioned it Wolf, was there an official press release with details about this engine, or just rumours?

Giannis, remember AMG released some A45 AMG highlights for the 45th birthday celebration, see below.
More will probably be released next week if the very latest rumors can be believed. ;)

The AMG 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine specially developed for the A 45 AMG is expected to set new standards in its displacement class: with maximum torque significantly above 400 Nm and low consumption levels, AMG is aiming to take the leading position among the competition. "Our goal is to build the most dynamic, most powerful and at the same time most efficient four-cylinder series production compact car. Together with other future high-performance compact cars, the new A 45 AMG will embody exclusive dynamism and the "AMG Performance 50" growth strategy. With this passionate commitment to what for us is a new vehicle segment, Mercedes-AMG plans to make a significant contribution to the growth of Mercedes-Benz Cars", according to Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

So, those rumours that said that the engine would develop 380hp are not officially confirmed. Also, the M133 name is mentioned quite frequently, so I take it as official. Yet, there are some people that claim the M133 to be based on the M270 (?), is that correct and if yes, is it official?

I am a bit confused as to what is rumours and what not.

And, of course, thanks for the quick reply!

380 hp may be too much. Suspect it will have 354 hp (260 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. Yes, the AMG M133 is the performance version of, and related to the 2.0 liter version of the Mercedes M270/M274 family. While the displacement for the European market is expected to be 2.0L, it may be 2.2L for North America, but with similar performance figures, and may be required to accommodate lower octane gasoline.

That is a monster 4-banger. Ironically, in the compact segment, Mercedes will have the smallest engine: 2.0l I4 (AMG) vs. 2.5l I5 (RS) vs. 3.0l I6 (M).
