7 Series (G11/G12) [Spy Shots] BMW G11/G12 LCI in the works...

The G11/G12 is the sixth generation of the BMW 7 Series, produced from 2015 to 2022. Consists of the BMW G11 (short-wheelbase version) and BMW G12 (long-wheelbase version) luxury saloons, collectively referred to as the G11.
Don't know if that has already been answered: Will the 760 also get a massive power bump? Since 750 seems to get the 530hp variant of N63, the gap to the V12 seems to be quite small otherwise.
Doesn’t seem like it will according to the BMW insider same 600hp like the PFL. 70hp is still a gap.

“2020 G11/G12 LCI - March 2019
- 740i (B58TÜ, 335hp)
- 740i xDrive
- 745e iPerformance xDrive (390hp)
- 750i xDrive (N63TÜ3, 530hp)
- M760i xDrive (N74, 600hp)”

I don't think that the gap is big enough to overcome the weight difference. Dynamically the 750 will be the better car and the 760 will be more comfy and prestigious. IMHO the M performance moniker for the 760 is a total marketing fail. You can not put to your flagship something that is half of the real deal.

It’s a good enough gap IMO and you can still opt for the design excellence package you don’t have to go for the M pack. Plus it offers a V12 and AWD something not available from other competitors in this class and the power delivery will be different to the 750i plus i don’t think people buy a M760i as a dynamic vehicle it’s about status and buying the most expensive 7 series money can buy. A V12 still have more cachet than the V8 .

There is actually an 80PS difference (610PS compared to 530PS) and 50nm difference in torque and the 760Li is supposed to be an M car so the chassis should be sportier than the non M, 750i.

Its weird, I just checked the BMW German site and there are no petrol models on the configurator, only diesel and hybrid.

For the current generation is correct. These were removed in regards to issues with WLPT. They are still offered in certain markets.
However all new engines for the LCI are now officially compliant.

It could be 80 ps more but it also weights some 200 kg more, and whatever the chassis it can not compensate for this weight penalty. For me the M760i is neither a sport flagship nor a luxury one since it is half M. I believe that the correct way is not to give it to the M engineers and make some minor tweaks but give it to the Rolls Royce engineers and make some small tweaks enough to deserve the name RR7 and be the full flagship that the 7er deserves to have.

This! Exactly! I would make a bet, that a G11/G12 750ix LCI with M Sport beats a M760 on any track.
And if so: Then the question BMW has to answer is: What does M Performance stand for, if the lesser and much cheaper sibling is simply more sporty? Just a cosmetic package? C'mon ...

You make very good points. It does seem that other than exclusivity, there is no other compelling case for the M760 because refinement in my humble might not be enough justification.
That engine in the M760 is capable of a lot more so we shall see what the response from BMW will be. I am sure they know what they are doing.

Bmw should learn from Mercedes,The V12 should be solely utilized in a special styled 7er (something like the L7 in the past)to compete Mercedes Maybach.

So much is said that the front dash is not updated, but I see it almost the same as the 5 series, X3 Etc. only more luxurious, that is not as "modern" as the S class (which is a newer model), but is not old either

The S is not a newer but an older model than the 7er. S was introduced in spring 2013 and the 7er in summer 2015.

How is "modernity" defined? I feel, that the simple formula applied here is: "More and bigger displays is modern"? Sorry, I'm not fully sold on that... (sidenote: My comment-frequency is that high currently, because I'm curious, whether I'm able to regain scan subforum access )

S

Surely it should have the new gear stick?

I was expecting the same thing, but it seems BMW is keeping it old school in terms of interior styling (which is nice, as the former gear shifter looks much better than the new one in standard spec, not including the Crafted Clarity application). But at least, the new digital interface (OS 7) is there together the new digital instrument cluster, as expected.
