Yes I know that. I was talking about the facelift not having it at all. Like all the other M packs.

8 speed is already available on the 7er, not exactly a first as the 760i already has it if my memory serves me well...

Full LED headlights, new bumpers, new engines (gasoline V8 Valvetronic and diesel I6 'tri-turbo'), 8-speed on all models, B&O sound.....this facelift will be full of pure WIN.
:t-cheers:

And IMO just enough to keep an already perfect car up-to-date.

Oh yeah, I think Scott said the M pack for the 7er will ditch the chrome parts on the FL

You can already get the chrome delete option on the current M-Sport.

Good, All for the better;)

Yep, and any other 7-series model still has the 6-speed auto.

Best regards,
south

What the 7er needs is an M version. The M5 engine with 600 PS would be fine, and the V12 reworked for 650 even more perfect.

Because the key petrol model sellers such as 740i and 750i are still six-speeds. As is the 730d. Not every market aspires to the Active Hybrid 7 and 760Li so they are less well known to some regarding technological advances over the mainstream selling models.

Hm. IMO 740d xDrive is quite a mainstream model - especially in Europe. It's still the most powerful 7er diesel, it's currently the only 7er diesel available with xDrive, and it's the at the moment the cheapest 7er with xDrive (the other is 750i xDrive). According to my data 740d xDrive outsells 750i xDrive 9:1 in EU markets!

But it's sure 730d that's the key model for EU markets - and it sure lacks 8-speed auto.

Your reasoning doesn't make much sense. I guess you simply forgot about the several other 7 Series models which have the 8 speed auto already.

The 740 and 750 models should have the 8-speed gearbox, in order to reduce their CO2 emissions and achieve better fuel mileage to avoid being subjected to the dreaded "Gas Guzzler" tax in the U.S. Actually, the 740 is not subjected to the G.G tax, but the 750 is. Oddly, though, the 760Li isn't.

With regards to the front-end of the 7er, will the facelift follow that of the previous generation 7er... as in, from a Grumpy expression to a Smiley one?

SMILE! :D

That was one of the ugliest cars BMW ever made, I'm so glad that era is over now.

doesnt look like they kidney grills are going to get any smaller :( but I certainly hope they come up with some decent looking front bumpers.

The F01 is so hit or miss with me lately. Sometimes it looks a little bland and overshadowed by the 5, which is essentially the same design but tighter proportioned and with slightly more sheetmetal drama, then I'll see a WHITE SWB F01 with M-Pack, and it'll blow my mind. I've come to the conclusion that a White M-Pack SWB F01 (has to be that combo for me, none other really grab me currently) is still one of my favorite Sedans on the road, and is nicer than any F10 combo I think, due to how that combo really accentuates the more "flat", regal, and large look of the 7, giving it the necessary road presence I like a Sedan to have.
