To me i don't think the interior is all that impressive, yet the details seem to be great with nice new elements introduced onto a familiar BMW interior. It's a modernized, higher quality F01 interior and very similar to other models, as usual with BMW, or the highest quality and the most modern (production) interpretation of their traditional interior, which really is great but i doubt it will be a wow. A lot lighter and cleaner vs the W222 and i think i will prefer this.

What I find underrepresented in most statements is the fact that there is more or less no single button in that whole interior that has been used in another model before (exception: pitman arm). That is new for BMW. And I hope (and have some reason to guess) that they will not start to introduce all those nice details (iDrive button, climate control, power seat/power window keys) in the G30 etc.

If the thing drives as good as it promises I'm in ... even though at that price, I probably will not get it from the company :(

Bmw! The one design detail I can't get over is merging the headlamps with the kidney grill. I think it ruins the front of the x3-5-6 as it does the 7. It somehow works on 3-4 series in part due to the acute tapering prior to connecting with the grill.

Awesome car otherwise inside out to be honest. Glad to see that bmw is reversing the weight gain trend which I hope should translate into more driving enjoyment

From these photos, materials and assembly looks exceptionally good.

I don't understand these comparisons being made with house interiors ......to me Mercedes and BMW are not that far apart aesthetically.

Personally, I've always thought the S class interior was a little bit fussy in places. I'm not crazy about the Audi-style wood inserts on the back of the seats in the BMW.
Overall, I'm impressed though.

Ah Doc M.
Rose Byrne?

That is something I noticed and found annoying as well. I don't mind wood trim placed on the back of seats, I wish it was done in a creative manner.

So the car will have exterior trim levels?

Yes.

Design Pure (Excellence / Experience / Balance / Impulse) trim lines have been in the BMW offer for quite some time now. Depends on a model & market though.

G11 7er will feature Design Pure Excellence package (for Exterior and Interior). So, beside DPE package, there will be an M-Sport package and a standard "package".

It's just a fancy naming for lines ... Some models or / and markets eg. feature "Sport", "Luxury", "xLine" etc trim packages ... While usually higher models and some markets offer fancy-sounding "Design Pure ..." packages instead.

Eg. X5 / X6 come with xLine & Luxury line, while in some markets those two trim lines are named "Design pure Experience" (= xLine) and "Design Pure Excellence" (= Luxury line).

So, design Pure Excellence is actually a Luxury line, while Design Pure Experience is either an "xLine line" in the case of eg. X5/X6, or "Sport line" in the case of 6er.

Wasn't that more or less the same case on F01?

Boy the amount of hype and vapourware we've received from certain members regarding the exterior and interior design early on in the thread....... Looks properly teutonic nevertheless.

The M sport supposedly has similar road presence as the 6er GC, which is good news.

Looking forward to testing the new iDrive, always wondered how they'd top the present interface. Also looking forward to NVH tests.

I can't wait for it to be tested against the rivals. Especially after these new Jaguars have proven to be so dynamic.

It has been said here the car will be very evolutionary and rather a vanilla design wise. Inside and outside. What it was emphasized was the fact detailing, fit&finish, materials, tech etc would be a huge step up form F01 7er, and even the current rivals.

You're sure these buttons etcetera won't be used in the next 5er? In the past that was usually the case, to benefit the 5er and not particularly to the benefits of the 7er (because not bespoke for the top model).

Playing devil's advocate - isn't this what occurs whenever any vehicle is succeeded?

I'm speaking about the now ludicrous claims of the passenger screen, best rear seating this segment has ever seen, and so forth. Additionally, how the leaked pictures were a totally inaccurate representation of the G11.

I'm in no way putting down the G11; its what was expected.

^The passenger screen was expected for good reasons. Any 'insider' info you get here is either orchestrated and/or runs the risk of being incorrect.

I don't think there will be a passenger display. The infotainment screen is centered and gives the passenger access to all features.

With Audi's dashboard display possibly making it to production, BMW might have to bring there's for the sake of appearances, and enhanced "functionality."

^^I don't say it's coming. I just say there was reason to believe it's coming. Just referring to repeated side swipes about those who mentioned it. Once more: either you get marketing lines or you get info that might turn out to be wrong.
As I said before, the second screen absolutely makes sense as it would allow to keep several functionalities active that otherwise (i.e. with only one central screen) would have to be blocked under certain conditions.
