It looks great I like the seat trim and the hvac controls both front and rear look simplified yet high tech. So the 740/750 have unchanged power outputs, pretty surprising, but the reduced weight helps to improve performance. 730d has spectacular economy and CO2 values nearly 20g/km lower than the S 350d.

I'm glad you don't have to take the panoroof, but can order a normal sunroof as well. That did bother me on the W222, where you can only order the panoroof or no sunroof at all. So I was forced to take the panoroof. German pricing? Anyone?

Is that another crease like on the VFL concept?

Nope, it's not a crease. It's just play of light due to dramatic panel shift from concave to convex. But under certain light conditions or under certain angles it appear like a thin crease, giving you the same optic effect (yet not as prominent) as a side body work on VFL does.

So, not a crease (which is usually a barrier between two concave surfaces) but a prominent shift from negative to positive surface - giving you an impression (under certain conditions mentioned above) there's a crease / line there. But it's not since the positive surface is quite massive - before it transforms into negative surface again (area in the line with air breather). the lower crease (just above the chrome trim) is there to separate two negative surfaces (air breather area and rocker panel).


I was talking about this certain styling feature on G11 a while ago (check my old post form January; link HERE) ... It looks cool.

The lines / creases are simple but panels are very 3D ... quite complex with variable concave / convex shifts ... Flame surfacing perfected.

Yes, there's chrome galore on G11 / G12 ... Especially in Design Pure Excellence package.

Given the fact, the austrian S350d is about € 10.000 more than a german priced one, the german price of a G11 730d would be circa € 90.000 (austrian 730d = € 100.445 minus circa 10.000). Just a guess, wich guess means a 730d will be circa € 8.000 more than a S350d. Bruto, because the 7er comes with leather as standard (€ 2.618 extra for the S350d; cloth seats are standard). Still a price gap of circa € 5.500. I guess navi will be standard on the 7er, or not @SCOTT27 @EnI ?

To avoid missunderstanding, I like G11s interior, it has nice details and I believe that quality is top notch, but as I mentioned before, too simple look, simple lines.

I will say this. These rear seats do look interesting.

I really hope all that silver in the interior isn't plastic. My parents used to have an E66 a few years back, and the acres silver plastic in that car really ruined the interior.

I look forward to more pictures of the car. So far it looks very interesting.
It seems to me that the Interior of the G11 is very space compared to the S-Class.
There is law and order and a minimalist cockpit.
In the G11 seems to me too as the sports luxury car.

I agree. The S-class has taken a more gilded approach with its bright works, curving wood inlays, and the way different colored leathers interplay. The 7er has cleaner lines which lend a more modern feel, which I also think does a better job of incorporating both TFT screens because of it. Whereas there's more clash with the MB's dual screen and design theme. I quite like both but prefer the 7er cleaner look because it feels more calming as a whole. However, I did wish BMW incoporated more of the layering theme that was seen in VFL Concept into the dash and door trim. It would lend a bit more drama without overcomplicating the interior's feel.

As to what's been released so far...not many surprises on the design front. Still need to see higher res pics though.

Don't know what the guy on the other forum specifically mentioned, but Scott and EnI have mentioned that they got input from the interior folks at Rolls-Royce when designing the interior. Let's see how that pans out. So far the leather patterning on the seats looks rather impressive and hopefully they have minimized the appearance of plastics visible to the eyes.

One of my favorite interior design elements in the car thus far is the center console and the buttons arranged around the shifter.
