Autonomous Driving features of the new BMW 7er.

The 7 series achieves the goal of semi-autonomous driving

Once you set your upper speed limit, the new 7er can drive by itself on the road within the 0-130mph speed range.

The new 7er can even address the situation to avoid collision,if a car travelling in front of you suddenly brakes hard.
The system however requires both of your hands on the steering wheel, if not the system will warn you automatically through sound and visuals on the instruments and then be disengaged after about 10-15 seconds.

I'm excited about tomorrow, really quite sad, as after my girlfriend dumped me, and all my summer plans were trashed, this unvieling has been the only thing I've eagerly waited for

I like the look of the multispokes most to the right in the rim selection, remind me of the Style 32 Radials which I was very fond of. The rest of the rims gave me some good vibes from the past as well, as well as some new ones that look pretty good.

Chrome doesn't bother me, don't pay attention to it really, can't wait to see more of the Shadowline though!

What we all agreed on was that the stylistic courage often demonstrated in concept cars does not translate enough into production vehicles. The W222 could have used more of the F800 and it's a shame that many details of CS, Gran Lusso, or the VFL never see the light of day. And since the time for dreaming is over soon, I tried to bring my perfect G11 to paper. As always, airplane quality in terms of crayons, paper, and photography.

I would say your illustrations of the front and rear (with some tweaking) are reminiscent of the next 5er. If we talk about the core sedans, Its that car that ushers the beginning of the transition to elements that feature edgier details. The 3er is full transition.

That's always the thing imo. It's always "the next X or Y". And when the next X or Y launches, it's a toned down, 'dull' design again. It happens every time, for the last 20 years at least.

Fully agree with Busty, his sketch is better than the real 7er, which is a shame.

Front and side are amazing, the (lower) rear awkward and the central screen I don't quite understand in 3D.
It is however much closer to the VFL.

Busty, on the inside door panel alone, you get my vote. Also I like how you integrated the middle dash screen and the use of aluminum (or is that ceramic?) on the dash in a layered manner like in the VFL.

I can wholeheartedly agree.

And I suspect that those whose anticipation has been whetted by the Audi Prologue concept(s) may be disappointed when the production D5 A8/S8 is presented to the public. However, I remain optimistic that the series II Porsche Panamera will quite closely resemble the Sport Turismo concept.

For those motorists currently shopping in this particular market segment, I can imagine that the whole process has evolved into an excruciating waiting game. Personally, it would be the sort of dilemma that I would experience. The W222 S-Class never really appealed to me. I find myself underwhelmed (so far) with regard to the G11/G12. This would compell me to await the D5 (and possibly be once again disappointed) and the Panny II.

In terms of exterior and interior design, I find VWs' C Coupe GTE Concept (the Shanghai car), the most aesthetically cohesive exercise.

BMW should just kill off the 7 series. It has the Rolls Royce marque which it should milk and create a model line below the Ghost to go head to head with the S class. That WILL potentially destroy the S-class sales since Rolls Royce > Mercedes Benz....

I can't agree with you on this. This is a very conservative segment, most buyers are not looking for anything too dramatic (in terms of styling).

The S class and A8 are not especially exciting either. These vehicles have to appeal to a very diverse group of buyers.

Rolls-Royce is too niche to have much impact in this sector of the market ....it just doesn't fit.

That's actually a very interesting proposition for Rolls to hit massive volumes. But, I don't agree with killing off the iconic halo 7 series for BMW, which is a separate brand. Like the S-Class, the 7er is meant to showcase the best the brand has to offer at that time. Also, as the gap between rich and poor has been widening in many countries, it just wouldn't be cool for all and sundry to be swanning around in Rolls Royces! I love the 7er and am very excited for tomorrow night's reveal..

Neither does RR have the production capacity to match Merc and more importantly a true Rolls cannot be produced at the cost of an S-Class.

After reading some other websites and forums, this seems to be the most popular opinion. I have to say I like it, but it does not look special from the pics I´ve seen. As always, it depends on which pics you look at. I could post here some pics of the S-Class interior that look like crap, same for the exterior. For comparing the G11 with the other cars of the segment, I think we should use M Pack 7er, AMG Sport S-Class, etc. And good looking pics of each one.

The worst thing about this 7er is how similar it looks to the current F01. The best one is that it hints at the same time a new, evolutionary, design language, edgier and more aggressive looking that might not be 100% there on this G11 but could make the 5er, 6er, and 3er the best looking cars of their classes by a huge margin IMO.
