^^The VFL Concept and the 4 Series Concept are not comparable. Because the 4 Series Concept should give a view at the serial 4 Series while the VFL showed no particular model as Concept but gave a view of several details which could enter into the production of several ranges.

I bet the VFL design details that will reach production on other cars are both the frontlights (5er) and the rearlights (6er) and the huge kidneys (X7).

In fact, for those disappointed by this car´s headlights should look at the G30 5er spy pics and the Autobild render. Those headlights seem to be much more interesting than these ones.

It was my wish too to find more details of the VFL at the new 7, for example headlights and taillights in similar shape and a little bit of the stunning interior. But after the last renders based of the last spy pics and after the interior spy pics it was relative known what we can expect.
Honestly I was little bit disappointed as it was more and more clear that the new 7 will not get to many VFL design details. But after I looked the renders and spy pics isolated from the impression of the VFL I've enjoyed it. And now after I've saw the undisguised car I'm really enthusiastic.

Hura! Snazzy! Brilliant, sporty, elegant and yet aggressive also low-slung design and ever so neat-sporty-luxurious cabin layout and ambiance!

Verdict: Anti S-class, RR, Bentley (as if we needed another old grandfather clock in this segment) I love my RR and Bentley's also does the S-class deserve all the respect it can get, but a BMW 7er must (and it is a must) be different in DNA as it has and suppose to be different:)

Thank you BMW Group, you have delivered the antidote again, you have delivered pure-BMW DNA and that is more than enough for me!(y)

Keep in mind that China is the first market for the 7 series and chinese taske are différent than the one in Europe or even US ... So more chrome means more luxurious

I doubt anyone who dislikes this car dislikes it because of the chrome.

Sorry, just have to add that the emphasis on different did another thing I put very high on my wishlist: I don't want Tablets to replace my view to more conventional-type instrument clusters, you know.;)

Does not seem to be the case(y):

BMW should not play this safe because the W222 is a true hit, and when this thing goes on sale, the W222 will have new I6 and V8 engines, new gearbox and new tech.

We're talking design SKY. The tech of the 7er will not be the problem.

Now after some time, I can say that I pretty much like it, apart from few things: it's blingy. Very blingy compared to what we are used from BMW. The fog lights, the chrome strip on the side, THE BUTTONS... In my opinion, they've overdone it. W222 is barely acceptable, but this is too much. Other than that, I find the H-kink bit bloated, and definitely not a fan of that empty space below climate controls and center console.

Few notes:
1. Notice the leather stitching between the lights switch and steering wheel. Also, below the center console.
2. The speakers are basic, or low-end; will be interesting to see how B&W speakers will look like. Hopefully, not to chrome-y.
3. The button that opens central storage and the design of the whole area looks like it came straight from the W205 C Class. Which is good if you're asking me:D
4. The 'strip' of buttons (for the HUD, and other systems) below the lights switch is gone.
5. When looked straight from behind, the car has certain sharpness, it reminds me of E38. Just like the early discussions suggested. Lovely:love:

Now, one question: wasn't BMW supposed to present us 7 Series Concept? And if it was, whats the point in doing it now? It is a bit suspicious that we got to see the entire car, and we didn't even saw the car in the late FEP stages in spy pics. :sneaky:

Are they kidding??? :p:rolleyes::ROFLMAO:

2016 BMW 7-Series getting panorama glass roof 'sky lounge' and leather engine cover?

Who needs a leather engine cover?

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s leak, new details are starting to emerge about the 2016 BMW 7-Series.

The cat is pretty much out of the bag in terms of exterior and interior design but now we heard some interesting rumors about a couple of optional goodies BMW will offer for the 7-Series G11 and its G12 long wheelbase sibling. It is believed Bavaria's flagship model will be available at an additional cost with a Panorama Glass Roof "Sky Lounge" which will probably be very generous in size and should create a more airy cabin ambiance.

The other optional feature sounds a little bit peculiar as BMW will allegedly offer a leather-wrapped engine cover instead of the usual plastic. The only logical explanation we can find is that BMW wants to emphasize the new 7-Series is far more luxurious than its predecessor and they have a treat for those very few who will actually pop up the hood and have a look at the engine pampered in leather.

It is believed the all-new BMW 7-Series will make its official debut in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

I know. But my point is these brands are almost at the same level. This 7er will probably offer some class leading tech. But then it will come a slight refresh for the S. Then the A8. Then the 7er again.

But the design is here to stay for 7 years (almost 8 as we have seen this car this early). I believe when someone buys a car of this segment expects the tech as a given, but wants something more from the design. That is why the current A8 was such a fail IMO.

^to be honest, I still find the current A8 pretty fine, particularly after the facelift. Its crucial problems (e.g., overhangs) will probably remain even in the next gen.

Now it is quite decent yep. But still needs to be the S8 IMO. And the advantage of the A8 is that its interior is still at the very top.

BMW's marketing department is probably on it's way home from vacation, as they can throw away all plans and start over again.

Now it looks logikal why the top management was changed earlier then anticipated. Maybe some peaple were not happy with the next 5er either

Next up: Adriaan van Hooydonck.

The interior of this new version is the biggest disappointment for me it just looks like a spiced up 3 series interior. IMO the X5/X6 interior looks better. The door panels are so plain, no added wood trim at the bottom near grab handles/arm rests and cheap plastic looking speaker covers. Compare the W205 C-Class door panel trim and speaker covers to this car and it looks more classier, better built and more expensive.

The interior is certainly a let down. But the Chinese might like it

I'm on holiday so posting time is limited... my brief thoughts, observations and opinions on the leaked G11:

  • First of all, I like what I see; I can't see what all the fuss is about especially when its direct competitor can hardly be viewed as a paragon of futuristic car design. The W222 is a good design for a Benz and for all intents and purposes this is good, smart, sharp design for a BMW.
  • The grainy and underexposed shots are clearly not doing the complete design any favours. I can't help but feel that this is an intentional leak to drum up hype.
  • The interior is bone standard. And yet its minimalist elegance - so much the vogue for upper end cars going forward - is both appealing and modern without resorting to retro themes in order to portray luxury.
  • The car is not in full production trim / setup as evidenced by the shipping config suspension.
This is exactly what it needs to be: the anti-S-Class.
