C-Class W206 [Spy Shots] 2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class W206 spied pics & info thread

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W206) is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class which is produced by Mercedes-Benz Group AG since 2021. It replaces the W205 C-Class which had been produced since 2014. The fifth-generation C-Class is available in sedan (W206), station wagon/estate (S206), and long-wheelbase sedan (V206) body styles. The W206 C-Class is based on the Mercedes MRA II rear-wheel drive modular platform also used by the W223 S-Class.

Funny how everyone complained about the tacked on look of the MB screens when the W205 was first released or the first CLA etc. Now you look at almost all interiors being released and the screens look tacked on. Curious to see how things progress and if other manufacturers follow MBs lead.

MB lead? Lead in copying Tesla's layout you mean?

Yup, going to be a lot of sh!t looking interiors over the next few years.

I’m still lost here. How is there talk on Porsche going to larger engines with lower power to curb emissions and the other automakers are doing the exact opposite?

Porsche was citing that Euro 7 regulations put a limit on power per liter. They thought bigger engines would result. MB and others get around this by adding battery power.

I prefer the Porsche way if that is going to be the case. Mercedes is full of shit. This is Mercedes we're talking about and you've made V8s and V12s fit before so stop it. No, you designed the W206 on purpose to not accommodate the I6 from the start. How the fcuk can you say something doesn't fit when you're in the process of designing the car and you already have the I6 around for years? The R129 600SL was modified to make the V12 fit. The W124 was modified to fit a V8 for the 500E and 400E. Mercedes is making one mistake after another, again. It's just like 2010-2013 again.

For the record, I seriously doubt we're going to see Porsche roll out a series of bigger engines. I think they were just bluffing to get the gov't to reconsider their regulations.

It is because this car was designed after the I6, years after. They just decided NOT to design the W206 to fit around the I6. I bet a V8 would still fit though.

In theory it should since the general silhouette is very similar to W205 and I’d bet the dimensions are marginally bigger. I think the move to electric power to supplement the motor takes some repurposing of space.

I DETEST the fact that you now have to buy an E53 to get a 6 cylinder E-class here in Australia or an E63 for a V8.

If the I6 can fit into the W205, why would it not fit into the W206. Nonsense.

W205 never got the new inline six and we don't know if the W205 platform could accommodate it. Maybe the engine bay was designed for width and not length - sufficient for shorter V6/8 engines - as the inline 6 only came later.

I'm not surprised by Mercedes engineers excusing away the lack of an I6 in the new C-Class. An I6 hasn't been part of the W20x lexicon after the first C-Class. It's sad and, no doubt, W206 could've been designed to house the inline six but that precedent was a shift too far, for too short a time.

I'd be very surprised if BMW continued to offer a straight six in the next 3 Series.

It's going to be a good looking car inside and out, and I like that interior so far, but the engines will seriously kill the want factor with a lot of people IMO. Then again those who don't know or care about whats under the hood will love it.
