C-Class (W206) [Spy Shots] 2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class W206 spied pics & info thread

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W206) is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class which is produced by Mercedes-Benz Group AG since 2021. It replaces the W205 C-Class which had been produced since 2014. The fifth-generation C-Class is available in sedan (W206), station wagon/estate (S206), and long-wheelbase sedan (V206) body styles. The W206 C-Class is based on the Mercedes MRA II rear-wheel drive modular platform also used by the W223 S-Class.

Pathetic little 1½ litre engines...
Still better than to use Renault engines
the c200 is now more powerful than the e200(197ps)
That's combined power with EQ boost, engines are the same (I think, maybe wrong):

I think it's going to look really good obviously this is the high end model...we will get the base one with buttons and a smaller centre screen..

On the one in the pics it's looking really promising I really and liking the new seats.

On the engines we all know they going down scale yes on paper it's disappointing no inline 6 and no v8..

Let's see how they perform.

C180 M264 1,5 liter 170 hp + 20 hp
C200 M264 1,5 liter 204 hp + 20 hp (4MATIC ops)
C300 M254 2,0 liter 258 hp + 20 hp (4MATIC ops)
C220d OM654 2.0 liter 200 hp (4MATIC ops)
C300d OM654 2.0 liter 245 hp (4MATIC ops)

Guys, I don't know if it's just for the C AMG version, but have you noticed that the headrests are Volvo style? It is a pity not to have put the light switch on just under the air vent ;)

That's what they said in YT videos or you could give a link to the source?

The door panels are killing me. So plain. Hopefully there is some stitching available. Going from my current door panels to these new ones is going to be tough.

Agree 100%. The current door panel design looks far more premium than the sum of the parts. The new plain door panel design looks several class below, and I hope they won't cheapen the material and build quality further than the W205.

The w205 doors look good a nice design ...I do see I mean like the S class and now filtering to the C class that Mercedes is going for a more straight and clean door design less curves and so on.

I do like the S class doors simple yet elegant let's see how the C turns out

C180 M264 1,5 liter 170 hp + 20 hp
C200 M264 1,5 liter 204 hp + 20 hp (4MATIC ops)
C300 M254 or M264? 2,0 liter 258 hp + 20 hp (4MATIC ops)
C350 M254 272 hp
C220d OM654 2.0 liter 200 hp (4MATIC ops)
C300d OM654 2.0 liter 265 hp (4MATIC ops)

The central screen gives the impression of being more oriented (inclined) towards the driver than in the S Class which is straight, perhaps it is just an illusion created by those camouflage fabrics

JESMB writes all engines may be new? :)

The new Mercedes C-Class is 100% electrified

Mercedes equips all engines of the new C-Class with ISG - all engines are completely new

The first details about the new C-Class have now become known. Normally a new series starts with the known engines and only partly with new engines. However, some things will be different with the C-Class W206.

For the first time, the C-Class sedan and T-model are starting simultaneously.
  • World premiere of the C-Class (W / S206): 02/23/2021
  • Order approval C-Class (W / S206): 30.03.2021
  • Delivery of the C-Class (W / S206): June 2021

Now the details about the engines:

All petrol engines get the M254 with a 48 volt integrated starter generator and all diesels get the new OM654M with an integrated starter generator. This means that all motors have 48 volts. The integrated starter generator - ISG for short - is located between the engine (located on the crankshaft) and the gearbox. It not only replaces the belt-driven starter, but is also suitable for boosting, recuperation and sailing, thereby reducing consumption.

Compared to the 48 volt RSG (belt starter generator), which only have 14 hp and still sit where the starter was, the ISG can boost over the entire speed range and support the combustion engine. With the RSG, this only works up to around 2,500 rpm.

The 2nd generation ISG receives 20 hp.

C 180 with M254 DE 15 (1.5 liter displacement) 170 HP + 20 HP ISG
C 200
with M254 DE 20 (2.0 liter displacement) 204 HP + 20 HP ISG
C 300
with M254 DE 20 (2.0 liter displacement) 258 HP + 20 HP ISG

All three petrol engines also have an overboost function in the M254 with increased boost pressure on the turbo charger (around 27 hp). If the exhaust gas temperature rises above a certain threshold value, the overboost function is deactivated. That means it is usually available for 20-30 seconds.

The overboost function is available for all three petrol engines from the C 180 to C 300.

The overboost performance is not included in the performance information listed above.

The revised OM654 is used as the OM654M for the diesels.

That means there is a second SCR-Kat in the underbody (incl. Additional Adblue injection) an increased injection pressure to 2,700 bar. In addition, as with the M254, the OM654M is coupled with the 48 volt ISG with 20 hp.

C 200d with OM654M with 163 HP + 20 HP ISG
C 220d
with OM654M with 200 PS + 20 PS ISG
C 300d
with OM654M with 265 PS + 20 PS ISG

When the order starts, there will be three engines:

The petrol engine will start with the C 200. The diesels will start with the C 220d and C 300d. 4matic and the C 180 or C 200d follow 3 months later.

Plug-in hybrid models will be available in 2021

The plug-in hybrid models (petrol and diesel) will also be launched in 2021. You have the option of a CCS DC fast charging option. The battery will be around 25 kWh and thus enable an electric range of 100 km.

The C-Class is equipped with full LED lights as standard.

The DIGITAL Light, newly known from the S-Class, is optionally available.

The MBUX navigation system is basically standard. A square 9-inch monitor is installed in the center console as standard (here with a fixed air conditioning control unit), there is an optional 11-inch MBUX screen. Here the air conditioning is then controlled via the MBUX display.

New C-Class with "light" rear axle steering

The new C-Class loses its optional air suspension, but receives rear-axle steering of 2.5 degrees. It cannot be compared with the 10 degree rear axle steering of the S-Class. It is not primarily designed for increased maneuverability in the city, but increases the directional stability when changing direction quickly by steering the rear axle in the same direction at over 80 km/h.

The wheelbase grows by around 2.5 cm to 2,865mm. There is around 3.5 cm more space in the rear. The external length is 4.75 m.

The C-Class receives a modified driver assistance package, but without the Level 3 option as is intended for the new S-Class.

Coupé and convertible will also no longer exist. There is then a joint series with the Coupé and Cabrio of the E-Class. It will be called CLE and will be built in Bremen.
More details will be available no later than 02/23/2021.

mercedes-c-klasse-w206sneak1.jpg

The C 63e 4matic + plug-in hybrid with 449 hp + 204 hp e-machine will not come until the beginning of 2022.
The C 43 AMG is to receive 390 hp and is also based on the M254 like the series petrol engines. It also receives the e-turbo with Formula 1 technology.

Good to see that the discontinuation of the coupe and cabrio have been confirmed.

The "joint series" CLE sounds interesting. I wonder whether it will be based on the E-Class and get e-class engines rather than being a C-Class derivative.
