By the way, I am relieved that the new Quattroporte will be a true Maserati, with its own new aluminium chassis and its own new Maserati (well Ferrari) engine. Only the Levante (SUV) is to be based on the Jeep, but I don't care about that it is a SUV, afterall the Cayenne is based on the Touareg and they are more similar than the Levante and the the Jeep shall ever be. I really hope this new Quattroporte will correct all the demerits of the previous one; quality, weight, power. The last one is not an issue if the rumored 4.0 V8 Turbo engine by Ferrari making 500 PS is true.

I still don't see any evidence that points or doesn't point to it being based on an existing Chrysler chassis outside of earlier test mules using a 300C interior during prototype testing. That does not necessarily mean it's going to be Chrysler-based. Unless there's been assumptions made to that by some reputable source, it difficult to discern whether it's gussied up Chrysler with way better wood and leather trim or not.

That said, Levi, where's your source that it's going to utilize an aluminum chassis or is this some grandiose assumption on your part based on your personal "sources"? Because unless they can utilize some cross-sharing with Ferrari, I doubt they can justify spending that much money on R&D for such small volume relative to the S-class, 7-series, etc. And I highly doubt Ferrari would do that much chassis-sharing with Maserati and risk losing that exclusivity that they possess.

Gianclaudio...the rearlights are more flipped GranTurismo than Audi, but I definitely see some Audi now that you mentioned.

Either way, I can't wait to hear official details on this car. Like a Ferrari, while less grand, a new QP being released is a relatively rare occurrence. And for a car that just looks so naturally good looking with minimal gimmicks, I am very much looking forward to it.

So in other words you don't have anything that says otherwise, about it not being based on a Chrysler.

Why on earth would they use a Chrysler as a base if that wasn't the donor platform. Come on now. The latest interior pics are still of a fancy, glossed over Chrysler interior. Clearly the car is going to use the bones of the 300, going by the pics.

Once official we'll know for sure. That said, though I don't like if the chassis sharering is true, Chrysler is better than VAG when they are to hide the donor chassis. Just look how exactly the same the Touareg and Cayenne are, almost rebadging. Same goes for Q5 and Macan and we'll see even more in the next years. The Chrysler 300C already shares with the Lancia Thema, 100 % rebadging. It is impossible for the Quattroporte to be based on the Chrysler. Just look at the weight of the Lancia Thema V6, it weighs over 2.000 kg. The Quattroporte is already not lightweight, and Maserati know that they have to reduce that weight, what is not possible on the 300C platform. The next Maserati Coupé/Cabrio will like the current ones be based on a shortened Quattroporte platform; I don't think the 300C/Thema will be turned into a coupé/cabrio. The Maserati that could get the 300 C platform would be the entry level Ghilbi, then sharing with the 300C, Thema and 166 successor. I guess why they come that early is because the platform is there. As for the Quattroporte, it is quite some time they are working on it, if I remember correctly, before the 300 C and Thema came out.
