M3/M4 [Spy Shots] 2014 BMW M3 (Impressions, SpyPhotos, Renderings)

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
Before you go the full Kanye...

The ACTUAL sound of the car is amplified through the cars sound system now. Which is how it will be from now on.
I know that already. Putting a microphone in the engine bay and amplifying the sound through the speakers is a feature that I don't want. All I am asking for is the ability to turn it off. I know I am not the only one that would like to turn Active Sound Design off.

I would think BMW doesn't have to resort to this type of gimmick if their cars deliver good performance for the money. Good handling, good driving feel and good balance of the chassis when pushing hard are what's most important for a M3/M4 driver.

Presumably, the goal of amplifying the engine noise through the sound system is to create a more "emotional" driving experience that they think has been lost by moving to a twin turbo setup. Knowing this, it just seems like BMW is trying to make their cars "more" than they actually are. I personally don't care much about engine sound......the twin turbo N54 engine in my 135i already sounds good enough for me. If sound is so important, get an AMG car or screaming high revving naturally aspirated Ferrari or Porsche.

But the twin turbo AMG's sound fantastic, so I feel BMW must get this right. BMW are an authentic brand, so fake sound experiences are a little disappointing..

That said, I would take the M5 over the E63 any day. I just love it!

^It will be interesting to see how this new 4.0v8 Bi-turbo sounds and performs in the up and coming C-class, if there one thing that Mercedes always seem to get right is the sound of their big AMG engines.

Yas Marina Blue F80. This is incredible:

Looks very much like Laguna Seca Blue which was a standard colour for the E46 M3.

Yea, maybe with a hint of Estoril Blue as well. Certainly looks lighter than LSB to me.

Regardless, this thing looks mind blowing to me. The contrast to the CF roof is just insane. IMHO, F80 + YMB = winner (more so than any other colors thus far)

One of the best M treatments I´ve seen. Really really works on the M3.

I´m about to say I like this more than the M4. Cant tell you why.

Stuck me fupid.

My favourite car in the world... it just stayed my favourite. And, I might add, I think it looks smashing in that blue hue - very close to Porsche's Cobalt Blue no?

Reminds me of Porsche's Mexico Blue

In overcast light it is like a metallic Laguna Seca Blue. Works wonders in natural sunlight.
As you can see the car is with the PURSUIT team with the gyro cam for those intricate and dynamic shots.
The car will be filming in Los Angeles but will not appear at the LAIAS.

Mexico Blue or Riviera blue. I get confused, both look very alike.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
