M3/M4 [Spy Shots] 2014 BMW M3 (Impressions, SpyPhotos, Renderings)

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
It will be interested as to which version will be the most desirable, the M4 coupe or the iconically name M3 saloon?

They are renders yes but bar the missing rear reflectors it is almost exact to the car that will appear.

So it will have the old M mirrors too and not the new style ala M5/M6?

Did I miss the news where the M3 (sedan) was also getting a CF roof? Thought that was coupe only?

Mirrors are not final as I said appearance and aerodynamic packet conforms to the original.
The US market needs a sunroof option , demanded apparently. They are not getting one on the M6, M6 Gran Coupe and the M4 , I have never seen a European M3 Coupe with a sunroof , seen a few in the US though.

Are they going to do a M3 wagon this time? Or will we be stuck with a M3 GT (if so please call it something else instead of murdering a potent sounding moniker like 'M3 GT')

I would love them to do an M3 Touring as they would an M5 Touring which never gets through to the final stage.
The M550d Touring is a fantastic all-round car and if you will the " replacement" for the M5 Touring in the current climate.
I know there is ongoing and continual discussion for an M3 Touring but no one has committed as yet.

Like the 5er. There will be additional petrol and diesel M Performance models of the 3er Sedan and Touring. The diesel being a detuned variant of the M50d Tri-Turbo to be designated M40d.

There will not be an M3 Gran Turismo but there will be an M4 Gran Coupe.

Bah, it seems they only got right the front bumper as there are spy pics which almost reveal it, but with the rear M treatment they´ve just sticked the M6 one.

But it's better because the licence plate is in the trunk and not in the bumper like M3 :D

If they offer the sedan in yellow... I might prefer it over the 4-Series  Or just wait for the 4GC...
I have to sell my car soon as the LCI is around the corner

2014 BMW M3 caught playing in the snow

^Woow I had to look twice because I thought this was the E90 M3, boy does the camo do a good job. Apart from the rear lights it's really hard to tell.

I saw this on bimmerpost earlier. Sadly its a fake. It's a render.

Please check out - http://jadesigns75.deviantart.com/art/.-EXCLUSIVE-BMW-F82-M4-CONCEPT-349774305?q=gallery:photochoperos/24051629&qo=3 - It was done by an artist on deviantart and posted on bimmerpost.

This is the original image. That said, it's still a beautiful render and I wish it were real

The render does look good. Just get rid of the cheap halogen brake lamps. It's not a fit for a car that BMW is marketing as 'upmarket'. If you're going to market it as such, back it up with premium products from the get-go. LED lights go a long way in making a car look elegant and sophisticated.

But some people don't get it.

Disagree strongly. Elegant and "sophisticated" cars have existed long long before LEDs did and in fact, quite to the contrary, I can name quite a few otherwise elegant designs mucked up by LEDs gone awry.

You're right, it can go the other way also, but in general, LED's give the car an 'upscale' look. :)

I heartly, violently, completely agree. I'll dare to say, in the majority of the cases, LED's have been used for the worse, aesthetically talking.
On the other hand, I don understand Levei and Hot-Ice poin about LEDs being necesary on premiujm cars: they consume way less energy and last much longer. And long term durability is a must about being "premium"

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
