Are we talking about pics of the X6 concept car here or could this be the teaser with production model pics? Reminds me of Audi's TT launch some months back. Looks like frameless windows and a b-pillar less window layout to me, like the old Mercedes Coupes used to have, that would make a huge difference over the X5EnI said:As CB said: the car presented at IAA would be a Concept car. You can see the car in the video is different than the car in spy pics. Much more concept-ish.
HUGE individual-design wheels, specially designed side mirrors, looks like no B-pillar(??), Individual interior, etc.
An almost production version car. Something like M3 / M5 Concept, Z4 Coupe Concept.
Yet the BMW VIP guests will be able to see the real car though.

Shiny black is usually the shadow trim which comes with sports package.Well, it seems that the teaser shows a conpect car. The production version of the X6 will be equipped with:
regular (matted) b-pillar(s)
and (optional)
shiny (shadow line) ones
daimn!

The only dissapointment I had was that I was expecting the car to be more individual in looks from the X5 - as Scott reported (maybe now you understand why I was so pissed in the other thread).
But still this doesn't change the fact that it's a hot car and I'm really hoping thát will be opening a new segment in the industry. Excited what the other would do to respond.

Not sure about this point. Are you just saying it or do you know it, Tine? And I'm 200% sure it was designed / sketched before X5 was, and then X5 was then based on X6. C'mon - the same guy designed both cars.

Both cars being designed by the same guy doesn't mean anything in that concern actually.
But if that's the case then I ,too, don't really understand why they released the X5 before the X6!![]()

show the damn thing...
ohh and a concept?? WHY
everyone knows that its not a concept.. one does not test concepts under camo for years.. lol...

BMW are exposure-junkies.
Let's look into X6 history.
- First there was an idea (sometimes in the late 20st century
). In some interviews there was indicated BMW are up into something.
- In January 2001 X-coupe Concept was shown - a clear indication BMW were serious about making an off-road AWD coupe. Interviews also confirmed that.
- Then we had few years (2001 - 2005) full of rumors what's the real agenda of X-Coupe.
- In March 2005 CEO Panke confirmed sport activity coupe is coming in 2008.
- Then we get first artist impressions just after that.
- First X6 mules were out in late Summer 2006.
- Heavy camoed prototypes with original body was presented in November 2006.
- In mid July 2007 X6 in light camo (FEP phases) appeared.
Then - very soon - production version press release will follow, the car will be shown on a forthcoming Autoshow, press will get a chance to test drive it. And then finally the car will hit the showrooms.
- And now in mid September 2007 we're getting the X6 "Concept", accompanied by a press release & promo material.
In the meanwhile the press, news sites, blogs & forums will be full of comments about X6 shape & purpose: exposing the car to a broader public.
8 years of exposure for BMW Sport Activity Coupe. Not bad.
Exposure, exposure, exposure ...
Debate = maximum publicity.
Teasing = pleasing. The climax is the end of the game.
