Sport Auto - Nordschleife laptimes

I think they mean 4secs on the ring, not HHR. Also, I'm pretty sure he was trying to pump up the 3RS, by comparing it to the GT R.
4s at the 'ring would be almost inconsequential (few tenths/minute). So unless the other Cup 2s are also well up on the normal, I would imagine it means more like 4s at HHR. The AMG GTR isn't 4-5s off predicted pace at the 'ring, it's about 20+s off. I wouldn't have expected it to beat 7:30.

Why? The base GT S is already 7:36 or 7:35, and everyone who's had some experience with all say that its already much better than the S, and thats simply on grip. So its not hard for me to see it getting past 7:30. I was expecting somewhere around 7:20, maybe even 7:18, since they already said it would be faster than the GT3RS.

Heres what CJ posted over at RL:
Having seen this car in person and the race car...this time is legit no doubt. No doubt this car will be faster for a lot of people vs the 3RS or next gen 3RS.

BIG ISSUE: will it stand up to the abuse that an RS does?

The Mercedes has:

Rear steering
Active aero including an F-duct for drag reduction
Monster lower diffuser for way more grip than the car should have
100 HP extra vs the GT3RS
Way more sophisticated TCS/ ESC and Suspension electronics.

The GTD IMSA car will be pretty unstoppable especially with Riley running it.

I remember seeing a write up of an interview with Tobias Moers where he said the car when tested was going around the N-ring in less than 7:20 (7:15 to 7:20) and he said the car has potential to do better than that.

And I would expect it to be maybe 1s/minute faster than the GTS, that's about all the raw physical alterations buy it. On average the GT3 RS is only about 1s/minute faster than the GT3 and only 5s between them on the 'ring. So I would expect a similar result between the GTS and GTR given similar raw improvements and equal tyres.

I wouldn't expect anything like 25s, or even 10s really. That's like making some mild alterations to a GTI Clubsport S and seeing it run 7:20 and I'm fairly sure everyone would shit an ostrich if that happened.

These tyres are giving it no less than 15s on the 'ring.

They didn't say what's next, but there's a handling test coming up

LP580-2, C63 S Coupe, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, 911, some hatchbacks and a range rover ? o_O

I tried subscribing to Sport Auto (electronic version) but I never heard back from them, they have taken the money either. Do they only provide it in certain countries?

Wow, those times really are dire then. Trofeos and still only GTR fast. And CG, who's usually better than HvS.
Trofeos had a hard time, since the air temperature was only 8 Degrees C while the asphalt was 14 Deg C... :)

That should be fine for Trofeos, it's generally only when the track and air is sub-5 degC that problems start. Quick warm up and they should have been good to go. The mild air temp should also have benefited the engine.

So, AMG GTS is better value. Not to mention GTR.
I don't think the first NSX was any better than the then Skyline GTR either, but people raved about it because Ayrton Senna helped develop it.

In fact, it actually took Honda until 2004 to develop an NSX that could beat a 1993 R32 Skyline GTR V-Spec on Tsukuba.
