In Sachsenring 918 is as fast as GT 2 RS with much stickier rubber. According to me 918 with Cup 2 R would be still the fastest one at least in some track
I wonder what an unrestricted F1 car could do around the Ring...?Spa OT
2018 F1 Spa GP, the best time under dry conditions is from Ferrari in Q2: 1:41.5.
This is 2 tenths faster than the lap of the 919 Evo from Neel Jani.
Last year, from Q2 to Q3 the poleman dropped the time by almost 4 tenths, so let's assume that a 1:41.1 would have been the pole time this year with Q3 under dry conditions.
This would be 6 tenths faster than the 919 Evo lap time.
All in all, I am not that impressed by the times of the fastest 2018 F1 cars (Ferrari-Mercedes), and I think that the 919 Evo would still be a quicker car than them under the same track conditions.
To me, Porsche should come back to Spa after the F1 week-end and re-take the record.
I know that I would, if I were them.![]()

They used to race on it. Made 6:58 in 1975 on the longer 22.8km old layout. Take 10% off that time and it's already fast. The 'ring has lots of high speed corners, some of which would be flat-out in an F1 car - Flugplatz, Schwedenkreuz, Klostertal, probably even the bend coming onto main straight. They would need to raise the car, work on springs/shocks, etc. F1 cars are fragile comparing to endurance LMP1 cars.
The ring is very bumpy.
Mainly tyre evolution....Quite startling to realise that a sports compact is now as fast as a 2005 Ford GT.
