The 550i is an S6 competitor and in my opinion the S6 blows it away...

Twin Turbocharged V8
420hp & 406 lb/ft torque
curb weight: 4,177 lbs

Despite the intrusion of the Audi faithful into this thread, thanks for the camparison photo above showing the new GS and current A6. Surprisingly, I prefer the GS appearance wise to the "understated" (read OMG boring) Audi. And the A6 isn't even close to my F10 550 xDrive beauty, looks wise or dynamically (and it is NOT as quick either FYI).

Now run off and play nice in the Audi forums guys.

Hmm, tough one. IMO, the S6 beats out the 550i in interesting-factor, but that very well could be due to its rarity. The F10 is tired and boring to my eyes more-so, I must say, but the A6 still has many elements that just give it that "Ford 500/Dad Car" look to me.

That said, I feel this whole segment is the best segment in the car business right now, so I actually really like them all, I can even appreciate some elements of the GS, but when nitpicking....

The 550i will soon be 435HP and not 400HP.
The right competitor for the S6 is the M550d which is already faster from 0-100kmh. than the S6 and I'm sure it will be faster around a track too :usa7uh:
The S6 is really beautiful but amazingly bland :)

Damn, I was looking for the right words, that about says it. Bland doesn't have to mean not beautiful, and beautiful and bland can indeed intertwine.

Can't believe nobody showed up to Vote for the Lex! I mean, it's a German Car Board, that about says it, but certainly there will be lots who will want a GS over a 5er. Somebody from a Lexus Board needs to see this. ;)

Wow what happen in this thread? I woke up today and this thread turned into Audi vs BMW. Do people hate Lexus that much? :D

Sorry guys but neither 5-series, A6 or Lexus is the benchmark. E-class is the one to be.

IMO the new A6 is a masterpiece. I saw a few of them lately in dark grey with the S-Line Pack and alloy wheels and it looked SO hot.

my reaction when i see an e-class in the streets is - :eye5: not bad

my reaction when i see a 5er is - i like

my reaction when i see an A6 especially with full LED light is - :icondrool SIIIICK, and whoever hates on the A6 (excuse my language) tasteless :D

and back on topic the 5er is miles ahead of the crappy UGLY disgusting GS

:)

IMHO for a Toyota the GS looks rather good in design terms. On the other hand compared to the F10 it looks like a Camry with a very expensive body kit. No contest then, German design still rules baby!
(And from a BMW ''Fanboy" perspective rest assured my fellow members the E-Class and A6 also has nothing to fear from the GS)

I have to ad the the GS rear view and intergrated tailpipes is it's best angle IMO.

The biggest mistake regarding the GS design is that in comparison to especially the 5er and A6 its looks bloated, heavy and not as sporty and 'tight'as it's German competitors.

Just to spoil your little Audi party, I have some info:

The 550i has an old engine. Did you read that? OLD engine. The S6 is as new as an engine can be.
Soon the 550i will be updated to the 450 hp Valvetronic N63 TÜ. By that time the S6 will get badly beaten. And until that time, the S6 will get it's a$$ kicked by the I6 M550d :D :D :D (oh, yes!!)

LOL! :D
Why the E-class though? Because it's the oldest?

Oh, yes!

5-Series 32 - 100.00%
GS 0 - 0%

Speed and handling mean very little to nothing to me, personally, in this segment. All about styling, quality, cachet, comfort/luxury, and engineering.

Amazing isn`t it? the power-wars died off with the ultra sport versions (AMG, M, RS.) to be picked up by the sports package versions. Nuts!!

The S6 is really nice. As a total package it`s simply more elegant and attractive than the BMW 550i which is obviously very boring it comparison.

The comparisons are interesting but they are in the wrong thread and it's spoiling the topic :)
If there isn't a currently active thread you can open a new one :)

I don't know how this turned into an Audi vs BMW war of words when it was all about the Lexus. lol

I have to admit that in both pic comparisons against the 5 and A6 the Lexus looks riced up but not in a good way. I lacks the masculine solidness of the Beemer and the clean elegance of the Audi. All we need is a comparison against the E-class to make the thread complete....... anyone? ;)
