As is the case with the recently presented W/V223 and W/S206, the W/S214 will represent a swansong. M-Bs' upper-executive class future will clearly rely on the success of the EQE and its' immediate derivatives (possible estate, AMG versions, etc.).

I dont know about the upcoming W214 but the current W223 is the last of its kind.

How so? In terms of engines you mean? Cause the W224 could be simple the S-Class with the EQS tech.

Reading your comment makes me sad :(

I cant believe that this is actually happening ! and the idea of not having a ''normal'' new E class !

Damn our children will debate on this Forum about soulless egg shape rapid cars with nothing but interior full of screens.

Not sure how the W214 is in doubt.

I would understand if the W215 was a no go for MB, but I don't see a problem with ICE demand for this decade, which is when the W214 would end its life cycle.

Their are so many countries where ev can not work in current environment...

Example India..Parts of Africa...S Africa where I am from hardly have charging stations...imagine places like Zimbabwe and so on they probably still 20 years away from EV..

What hapones in the countries where they have power shortages load shedding ?

As it will be based on the MRA II platform such as the W/V223 and W/S206, the commercial (and financial) justification for a W/S 214 will be evident. M-B need not-and will not-splurge on developing the last of the ICE E-Class cars. It will surely find enough customers by 2030 in order to ensure, at the very least, amortization.

@hannaz, on which site did you find this rendering? I tell you the truth, the first moment I saw it it seemed to me an escaped photo of the new E class, this rendering is so perfect, don't you agree?;)

Haha @Luca.. I got it from an Instagram page.. i don’t think its anywhere close to next E

At this time I'm sensing the E-class has been canceled. There's some heavy rumors going on right now that lots of ICE models are going to be cancelled and EV launch dates have been moved forward.

We haven't even seen any W214 prototypes or mules toolin' about, so perhaps that may be the case. With the heavily revised W213 E, the C, the S, and their SUVs, they may feel they are still relatively well-covered on the ICE front. ?‍♂️

Them's the times....
