Guyz…how many times?
There will be no new E-Class anymore.
Like the W233 is the last S-Class.
Only EQ models… so EQE
Sad, but true.

It is very unlikely that the W213 is the last e-class. I totally expect a W214 which should be the last ICE model.

My assumption is based on the fact that W213 and W205 were both based on the MRA platform, so W214 and W206 should also share the same platform (MRA2). It wouldn't make any sense from a financial perspective not to use the MRA2 platform for a potential e-class family, since all development costs are already spent. The automotive industry always thinks in platforms not single carlines.

Offtopic:
I am kinda surprised that all traditional carmakers are introducing subbrands for their BEV models. Looking a few years into the future either the traditional carlines like s-class, 7er, etc. will completely die or the subbrands have to go away again and the tradional names will be all electric. Both scenerios don't make any sense to me. Why introducing a new brand when it doesn't have any chance to survive longterm?

Sunk platform development costs doesn't automatically make this a for sure bet. The MSA platform was originally intended to have both the next-gen SLC and SL on it; now we have the AMG GT and SL. But generally I agree with you and that's precisely why I found the rumors to be so shocking.
If confirmed, the news would almost be sensational, after the s-class, so it would seem that Mercedes no longer puts into production the next E-class, which was scheduled for 2023, are there sure sources?

No sure sources at all. We'll know more by end of summer as Ola is expected to address future plans before capital markets day.

I don’t know why anyone would think there will be no more E or S vehicles. Uh, they will switch over to being full EV next time around. It’s that dumb EQ nomenclature that will be dropped and quickly forgotten. It’s s bandaid brand at best.

Yupp. We will likely get one final generation of ICE E-Class.

At some point they are going to make the cut. I am not expecting more ICE GLE or GLS. This upcoming GLC is likely the last one as well.

And we will have to see what happens to the compact range.

The compact cars should be going first, given the MMA platform is set to appear in 2024 (2023 is they go as fast as possible).

Makes sense. Don't think VAG will launch a new Golf or a new A3.

These French are really nice, but what is the point I ask myself, to publish photos of the current model, plus pre-restyling?

The point is, these pics proof that MB is working on a successor for the W213. Since we already know that the EQE will look like it's more likely now that there will be a W214 with ICE engines.

because it was told so by many Daimler employees

Personally i dont think its a w214 mule ...

Anyone know what is the gadget in the wheels to the bodywork ? And what is it used for ?

The next gen 5 series will happen. There is no way that there is no w214 planned for 2023

Don't forget the Aston Martin DBX mule used a buff, lifted E-Class as well. This E-Class based mule can be anything BUT a next-gen E-Class for all we know!
