Definitely this will be the most aggressive M5 in its history, I have never seen one before with camouflage that is already scary like this.

Some of the best observers here will know, I think it's the first time ever that an M5 will come with flared fenders compared to normal correct? total change of philosophy or question of "weight".......

It could be designed that way to help disguise what others on here have described as 'slab-sided' or 'chunky midriff'.

The wing mirror design doesn't look like the finished article unless it's this way going forward.

Why would you want to hide something in camouflaged stage? beyond that obviously there are still superimposed plastics, if they want to hide the "belly" of the batteries, in that photo you can see the idea of how they face the final product, for whatever reason, it looks spectacular and aggressive, more than usual

I will be surprised if it's overly aggressive and flared. The M5 is a gentleman's supercar slayer. Powerful and all mighty but discrete and politically correct.

From what I see, not any more.

Looking forward for your appreciation of the 7 series IRL, healthy envy, well not so healthy

The angles and the headlights.
No, I don't see E60 anywhere, these are the angles and above all the lights that I see, the lights are exact, obviously modernized this is the front that I see and if it turns out something like that, I couldn't think of something better to have forever

The facelift version of the G32 (which include both headlights and kidney grille) might be a clue to what the front end of G60 is going to look like.

It seems to follow the other latest M models with sharper lines and iconic nods to classic M models. Just as the M2 mimics the E30 M3 and E9 CSL with its blistered wheel arches and squared off intakes at the front.

The M5 seems to get something similar at the rear although this will more than likely be filled with a reflector.

It will be interesting if its fascia adopts a squarer look of the new M2? Or another sculptural functional fascia as it’s predecessors?
I wonder if we will get a reveal this Summer like the F90 and be caught altitude testing in the Spanish mountains sans disguise removed?

Does anyone know how it works in terms of timeline if 07/2023 is "start of production" for the new 5 series? if SOP is 07/2023, then:
  • When will the release event for the vehicle be? (3 months before SOP? 6 months before SOP?)
  • When will order books be opened? (At the same time as SOP? Earlier?)
  • When will first customer cars be delivered?

SOP is usually well before the debut and launch. End of 2023 I'd guess for launch and deliveries starting Q1 2024. This would also tie in with a 7 year life-span for the G30.

Thanks, this is really useful info. I’m thinking of pulling the trigger on the i4 and as they have a 12-month delivery time, was thinking whether I’d be able to get an i5 instead. But if we’re talking about Q1/2024, then that makes the decision much easier

Hang on to your current car a while longer and go for the i5! It'll be miles better than the i4 most likely...

What about the price? Can I get the i5 e40 for the price of the i4 M50?
Probably, the i5 M50 maybe a bit expensive than the i4 M50 but the i5 m40e or lower trim will be less expensive, and you could get a better car interior and exterior + its more comfortable and more family friendly.

The M Performance version of the i5 has been updated to M60 xDrive instead of M50.

It depends on where @Antti is getting his info from. If he's got the G60 SOP from ynguldyn, then as a datapoint, ynguldyn lists the G70 7er SOP as 07/22, which is obviously three months after the official launch. If we apply ynguldyn's methods and logic to the launch of the G60, then he lists G60 SOP as 07/23, which means a launch in April 2023.

Is it that ynguldyn is listing the SOP for *customer* cars?

Fair point. Generally when I've looked at it, it's fitted the six month gap, but he's also broken this out by SOP/EOP for specific markets, and he admits his info is U.S.-centric. Launch in April 2023 seems too early too early to me. G30 Official Launch was 12/16 with cars 'hitting the road' in 02/17 (after production started for Europe in late 2015 IIRC?), plus 7 year cycle would be 2024 for the G60.
