The E39 has a more "coupe-like" profile and a more vertical front bumper grill compared with the E60. And that's what I am sensing this new car will also have. I did own both an E39 and multiple E60's and I much preferred the E39. Size and styling wise I thought it was near perfect. With every model getting larger with each iteration, the current 3er is probably close to E39 size now.
The ongoing G20 3 Series and G30 5 Series are so huge and wide in real life compared to the lean and slender F10 and F30.

Yeah, the silhouette of the entire E39’s body is providing a sexy coupé-like vibe.

Side profile comparison: when the G30 is parked next to the F10 (taken by me during December 2021 in London).

F10 still looks good hasn’t aged at all. Better looking than the preLCI G30 IMO.
I definitely agreed with a matter that the F10 is still looking beautiful and aged gracefully, especially those pre-facelift vehicles. It looks younger, fresher and sultrier than the pre-facelift G30. I think the F10 will look best when it pairs the right size and design of alloy wheel such as the styles 237 Radial-Spoke, 331 V-Spoke and 332 W-Spoke.

This is the 2010 523i F10 Thai specification with style 237 Radial-Spoke rims.

I have been informed that this Summer we will see the G61 begin its public tests. Asking for a preview which I thought was the actual car. But was shown a Skoda Octavia Wagon. Apparently outline and slightly raised window kink are similar.

The i5 M Sport package prototype is wearing the 20 inch M alloy wheels. While the regular 5 Series prototype is wearing the 19 inch M alloy wheels.

Both G60 prototypes are interestingly borrowing the M alloy wheels from the G11 and G12: 19" 647 M and 20" 648 M.

Don't really like that boxier roofline at all to be honest. The current G30 and previous F10 rooflines, round and swept back, are perfect.

Thank god is doesn't look like a fat tub like the 7.

But all of these camoed BMW vehicles have been deceptively good looking only to disappoint when the covers come off.

It's too short, fat and stubby in the middle to be a 5-Series. It looks a fat mess to me at this point. That mid section is so heavy because it has to hide the batteries for the electric version. I hope this pull this one out of the hat and it looks totally different.

Same issue I'm also having with the design :( meanwhile the upcoming E Class spy shots are seeming that it's gonna be the more attractive sedan this time around.
