The trunklid slope is surprisingly fast, however the long and muscular rear end manages to avoid the hyena sagging butt effect; the silhouette remains true to itself but becomes sleeker and polished pebble-like

Headlights indeed remind me of the E60, but the rest not quite some much, as the E60 was more boxy.

For me, the G60 evokes memories of the G30 prototypes, hence being quite evolutionary. Which, by the way, is not a bad thing.

I'm also not seeing E60 at all.

E60 style slanted headlights, E39 style slightly caved in shark nose, F10/G30 profile length and slenderness, and some E28 vibes for the plump rear quarters - it's really invoking the spirit of its forefathers

Isn’t this very early for the 5er prototype to be so production ready in terms of final design? I remember seeing the current 5er prototypes in Paris in April 2016 before the European launch in Fall of ‘16. The 5 did not show up in the US until the middle of ‘17.

Are they trying to align with the E class like they did with the current X5? Currently the 5 drops a year after the E but now the X5 and GLE are drop a few weeks apart (the F15 life cycle was short and did not have an LCI)

The cladding hides a hood treatment that very closely resembles that of the M3/4. I fear this could look out of place.
I am amazed however that this is my only reservation with this car so far...
The 5er and X5 are BMW's bread and butter and to say this new one looks promising is an understatement.
I strongly believe that when we take price into consideration the G30 in any shape or form is the best car on the market today.
This one just needs to look the part and evoke more emotions/not look as dull without taking it a step too far... so far it's walking that fine line extremely well.

Man, I'm telling you this out of personal experience after 4 years with one: G30 5er is a sensational car. Perfect fit & finish, amazing to drive, no mechanical issues at all...

Doubt the G60 is a total departure from it, so it should be as competitive on every account.

It might be a liftback hatchback. And it should be if the i5 wants to compete with the A6 e-tron in practicality.

Also this seems very humdrum… fat piggy just like the rest of the German rivals. I’m sure it will get fire breathing engines and will go as stink but will suffer from the same less dynamic ride and numb-ish steering (thanks Asia!!!) coupled with their weight which is as much as a small cargo liner

Hadn’t expected it to be this good, actually anticipated something with split headlights like G70 but BMW never ceases to suprise. The sloping trunk similar to E12 looks like something to get used to nowadays but does remind me of the ‘70s BMW’s I fell in love with as a child. Once again the 70’s are back, thanks @Evgeny !
