As Audi AG continues to be plagued by software issues regarding the development of future BEVs, a soon forthcoming commercial success of the Q6 and A6 etrons will be absolutely essential. Without it, it can arguably be envisioned that Audi will not only further delay new product presentations, but perhaps bin them altogether. A8 etron (aka serial production Grandsphere) could conceivably be a victim, sacrificed in favour of an Audi version of the Cayenne EV. Something similar to the Q6 etron/Macan EV relationship. An upcoming A4 etron has probably already been greenlighted and irreversibly scheduled for production.
 
Audi version of Cayenne is already planned as the next Q8 e-Tron, which is another reason why the Brussels plant gonna be closing.

I'm wondering whether we will witness a similar strategy regarding the successors of the current D5 Audi A8 and the Panamera III. Something that could succeed the current Taycan and Audi etron GT as well ? Certainly, that will probably be quite a ways further down the road as the presentation of the first socalled "SSP Sport" BEV toolkit cars has reportedly been further delayed another 2-to-3 years.

One final excellent spyshot of the S5 Sportback 2 days before debut. Decent look at it's surfacing, general shape, and headlight details.

The standard taillights seen here do have a better looking light signature than the optional OLEDs which were in the teaser I think.

ARS Technica article after their briefing from Audi says no Avants in the US. Sincerely hope they’re wrong.
 
I love everything about it and the proportions, except the horrible flat new Audi rings that comes on the new A3 too
 
My God... amazing. Don't think I can wait for the RS... I'm getting myself an S5 for sure.
Proportions are perfect, details exquisite.
Best looking car in class by a country mile.
Knew I can trust Audi on coming out with a banger.

Although quite significantly smaller in all dimensions than the etron GT, the B10 A5 Sportback illustrates the kind of flank sculpturing that could have greatly improved the visual appeal of its more upmarket, larger electric sibling. Just enough accentuation to enhance the eye appeal of the surfacing, but nothing excessively flamboyant or contrived. The etron GT can keep its general proportions as they are very compelling. But other in aspects, the new A5 Sportback fittingly displays that less can be so much more.

Yeah, loved that shot. An almost flawless profile.
 
Exterior looks great. Interior looks cheap as fack. Not sure why anyone would prefer this interior to the one of a Skoda or a Passat…

Looking forward to seeing the US-spec interior with leather and lighter colours. The vegan interior won't be offered in the US.

Love the side profile of the Avant. Really hope it comes to the US, looks like it won't be coming at launch but I still think it'll be sold here.
