362hp and 404lb ft of torque + 7 Speed DSG
 
Familiar, unoffensive and "safe" and pleasant in a "conventional" way. Numerous elements from the Wolfgang Egger/Marc Lichte recipe books. In any case, it is looking far more attractive than the A6 etron Sportback prototypes IMHO. But the A6 etron is positioned a segment above. That makes me all the more eager to see how the upcoming new A7 Sportback/sedan will turn out.

Aaaaand on my last day of my Colorado roadtrip I spotted the RS 5 Avant (alongside the horrendous MQB 3-row thing)

This has the makings of being the most visually compelling Audi for quite some time. It is not that the separate ingredients are necessarily "new". But the "mix" is what makes the RS5s look so tasty. I imagine that Audi will apply that recipe to the upcoming RS7 as well. The question remains: Will Audi "get it right" with their upcoming low ride height BEVs ? I remain skeptical, yet continue to hope for a very pleasant surprise. Like it or not, BEVs will be the future further down the road. Maybe somewhat further than many anticipated (including myself)...but still... Genuine, not WLTP, 500-to-600 km range cars will be more commonplace within the next 2-3 years. Not far beyond that, we will be looking at figures closer to genuine 700-to-800 km ranges. The far more pressing issue is that of an efficient and affordable infrastructure that will accomodate BEVs and their owners. In my country, electricity prices can be absolutely ridiculous.
 
Oh there is a sedan coming? Is that the only body style the US is getting?
How do you even choose between this and the Avant... both look phenomenal so far.
It seems they finally gave the RS4(now 5) the exotic looks and beauty of its bigger sister and brother.
Been so long for something like this to come to this class of cars.
As always the devil will be in the details so please Audi refrain from BMW-fying this.
 
According to an earlier article in motor1 the Audi A5 is expected to be launched towards the end of this year.

Looking at these spy pics of covered cars, I cant wait to see if it will finally be a good looking compact executive Audi Avant.

The B9 gen AND the G20 are the best looking B segment cars. That said I prefer the pre face lift for each of these models.
 
Good heavens ! This has the makings of something that could be absolutely gorgeous.
Once the camo comes off I think we could be looking at the best looking Audi car in its current line up. The proportions and stance look already good with the swirly bits on and will look even more dramatic, especially those massive rear wheel arches with it off.

I would not dismiss that suspicion. In fact, we may be looking at the visually most attractive sedan/estate offerings in the entire current VAG lineup. Yes, better than the Audi etron GT and perhaps even better than the Porsche Taycan. Surely, a subjective point of view. With this in mind, the upcoming new A7s could be quite something as well.

We'll see the A5 and S5 really soon. Will prob have to wait to spring next year to see the production RS 5 I think.
