Audi need to change their look, in my honest opinion the A4 will be dead in the water if it looks anything like that render, it just is too plain and bland to mix with the G20 3-series and W206 C-class. It will just be like another FL instead a revolutionary shift forwards in styling philosophy.

The W206 looks like it's going to be quite evolutionary as well.

The one A4 I really liked was the B8 S4. The one with the supercharged 3.0 V6 engine. That car was a revelation when it was launched. It beat the BMW 335i and with a remap, it would be just as quick as the 4.2 V8 RS4. And you could have it with a manual gearbox as well. I mean, not in my country, but in Europe and USA it was possible to have a manual S4.

Beat what? Maybe beat a 0-100 time. And if they did that, congrats to Audi. For the rest.....an A4 and fun? Nah.

The new C is going to be a little S just like today, so that's not going to rock anything either.

Am I the only one who sees less and less Audi sedans on the streets? The new A6 is no where to be seen compared to the FL of the previous one, which became quite popular in Spain. The A4 has to bee light years behind the previous gen numbers as well. The A8 is also affected. You see like one A8 per each 10 S-Classes in Madrid.

Heck, even the new A7 is far from being popular.

I guess most of the buyers associate Audi with SUVs nowadays. Which makes sense IMO. Audi's SUVs look good at least.

Google translate:
It was a long struggle, now it is clear: The Audi A4 Avant (2024) is based on the further developed modular longitudinal construction kit and thus also offers drives with six cylinders. We also have initial information on the S Line and quattro all-wheel drive.

Fans of the A4 have to be patient: The renewal of the Audi A4 Avant is only on the plan for 2024. Although the current generation was presented in 2015, the Ingolstadt-based company did not renovate its middle class until 2019 so thoroughly that it will be fit for almost the middle of the current decade. It is now clear that the A4 will remain true to the modular longitudinal construction kit (MLB) developed by Audi for the VW Group. The larger A6 is also based on it. In the future, both series are to be brought closer together technically so that more identical parts can be used, especially in the non-visible area - electronics, cockpit base support. While the most important designs are set with the sedan and the Audi A4 Avant (2024), there is a big question mark behind the convertible version of the next A5. The underlying coupé and the five-door A5 Sportback, on the other hand, have a good chance of being renewed. The same applies to the popular "S Line" equipment variant.

In contrast to Mercedes, Audi is sticking to the classic performance drives in the Audi A4 Avant (2024). At least the RS version - in the current A4 Avant with 2.9-liter V6 biturbo petrol engine, 450 hp, price from 83,000 euros (as of March 2021) - will keep a six-cylinder, just for the BMW M models to meet at eye level. The 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel (286/347 hp) is likely to be replaced by a hybridized four-cylinder TDI. In terms of cylinders in between is the 400 hp 2.5-liter five-cylinder from the TT RS, which was designed for transverse installation and, as things stand today, will not move into the mid-range model series. In order to reduce fleet consumption, Audi will continue to rely on the clean and extremely economical 2.0-liter turbo diesel (currently 122 to 204 hp) and on mild, full and plug-in hybrids. There will not be a fully electric Audi A4 Avant (2024), various e-tron models are responsible for this at Audi. The now obligatory quattro all-wheel drive will also be available in the latest A4 generation. The digitization of the model series is very important to the developers. The number of innovations to be expected, for example for environmental communication, new 5G-based services - using artificial intelligence, the car gets to know its: n driver: in - will be so high that essential updates no longer need to be model changes or facelifts but take place around every two years - mostly "over the air", i.e. online without a visit to the workshop.

So what platform is that?

MLBevo I reckon. Audi spokespersons have however been indicating that upcoming PPE BEV entries will include a sedan/Sportback somewhat smaller than the recently presented A6 eTron concept. With dimensions in the vicinity of the current A4, it (A4 eTron ??) will be the smallest PPE car by Audi.

After current news about Audi launching the last ICE model in 2026, I do see the A4 as the largest Audi ICE sedan in the market. Can't see A8, A7 and A6 surviving another generation.

The production version of the A6 eTron concept (along with an Avant derivative) will probably cover the current A6 as well as A7s' bases. As for the A8...murmurings regarding the "Landjet" have been far too cryptic to allow any sort of accurate prediction of what to actually anticipate. Other than "It will be a large, spacious, very luxurious electric vehicle", little is known.

Weird decision when no one want to buy electric car, apart from a small group of fanatics.

Will there be a production version of the A6 e-tron though?

I sure hope so. To me it's the best looking EV design together with the Polestar Precept.

It's reportedly been greenlighted for the MY 2023. An Avant are well as a LWB notchbacked version for China (SAIC) appear inevitable as well.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
