EQE [Renders] 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQE

The Mercedes-Benz EQE (V295) is a battery electric executive car produced by Mercedes-Benz Group. It is part of the EQ family, and was presented at the Munich Motor Show 2021.
Oh boy...

I'm looking at this EQE and have viewed the most recent images of Audi A6 eTron Sportback mules. What is going on in M-B and Audi design departments ?

Snoozefest.

This EQ line by Mercedes-Benz is an utter fail - at least in the fleet market.

An anecdote: a prominent luxury hotel chain dropped a huge EQS order after being invited by BMW to a private previewing of i7 ... Preordering huge number of i7 cars instead ... Will get them delivered in the first i7 production bunch.

MB should have electrified S-class (especially the Maybach version) instead. EQS just isn't perceived as luxury among luxury vehicles fleet buyers. And right now luxury vehicle fleet buyers are hungry for true luxury BEVs - either large luxury sedans or large luxury SUVs. But there are none available as of yet. Ironically the BMW i7 will be the first one offered. o_O

For the record, I’d rather a i7 do hotel duty than an EQS as the the latter has a compromised rear seat.

But to your post- do you have any actual data to suggest the EQ models are an “utter fail” other than that one anecdote? That’s quite a claim.

No of course he doesn’t.

Perhaps I wasn't precise & clear enough: the "utter fail" is my assessment & opinion ... as an "elaboration" to my "Snoozefest!" comment - criticising the blend & predictable styling & design of the MB EQ line-up.

The other part of the comment ("at lest in the fleet market"? was just a bridge to the anecdote. An anecdote which is true and it speaks volume. MB failed to provide a true luxury BEV. They need Maybach (large sedan & SUV) equivalent asap.

OK. I must say the statement "This EQ line by Mercedes-Benz is an utter fail - at least in the fleet market." doesn't really match up with your explanation but I'll take it in good faith. :)

As with the EQS I really don't understand what they were thinking with the design. Remove the badge, ask people what brand they think it is and they will either tell you it's something Korean, or maybe some sort of a Chinese €30k knock-off. It's like they were trying to sabotage themselves on purpose.

One canceled order doesn’t speak volumes about anything. What you or I think about the car is an opinion but to say that it has failed in a certain market segment requires more than how you feel about the car. Actual (proof) numbers would be required.

English is not my first language. And I'm switching between 4 languages all the time, so ... And posting all these post here during my breaks, hectically, at full speed . So ... excuse me that sometimes I'm just too fast & not precise enough. So, yes ... some good faith would be very much appreciated. :)(y)

Quantify "huge number"? 1000? 10,000? 100,000?

"ONE MILLION !"

The Mercedes-EQ line has been a missed opportunity. If MB needed to take a radical direction from its current IC line, it should still have pursued sporty, RWD-based designs. Such as the EQXX, for example. Instead, it ended with a “turd-on-wheels” design paradigm that at best becomes “acceptable” over time. When, in fact, Mercedes should have strived to be desirable and aspirational. Or, it could have done what BMW is doing. I can only imagine how a fully electric S Class would have looked like with unique trimming pieces befitting the electic lines.

I am looking forward to the next S Class, which I think will be merged with the EQ into a standalone, electric, flagship. I believe the leaps will be magnificent, technically and design-wise, that it is worth skipping the current mess that are these uninspiring FWD- and econo-box-looking vehicles.

There is no such thing as FWD based tho with these EVs. It’s a skateboard with the same thing at each end. I’m going assume you’re talking about the cab forward look of the EQ cars not the actual physical layout.

I cannot conceive M-B decision makers being aloof to the frequent criticism directed at the exterior design of their lower ride height EQ vehicles. Hence, I suspect that the successors to these current offerings will be far more eye-pleasing.

The EQE 500 might be the best out of the EQ cars as far as looks, power, price etc. The AMG version of the EQE should get Mercedes to withing a few years of Tesla performance numbers lol.
