Macan [Renders] 2021 Porsche Macan E

The Porsche Macan is a compact luxury crossover SUV (D-segment) produced by Porsche since 2014. It is the smaller SUV from Porsche below the Cayenne. The first-generation Macan went on production from February 2014 with petrol and diesel engine options. In 2024, Porsche released the second-generation Macan which is a battery electric vehicle built on the dedicated Premium Platform Electric (PPE) EV platform.
I'm not talking "on paper". I'm talking as an owner of two Taycans in the last nine months. I currently own, a GTS Sport Turismo, collected in July last year. I have all the efficiency data recorded, as well as from my first Taycan, a RWD saloon. Just because it beats the official EPA rating, it doesn't automatically mean it's efficient.

I love my GTS in pretty much every way, but it's not remotely efficient.

Funny you should say that, because I have a lot of experience of the EQS too. A 450+ 4MATIC, over thousands of kilometres. I'm planning to publish it on here at some point, along with other cars I've driven recently, such as the Q8 e-tron. Tomorrow I'm collecting another EV, most likely a BMW iX eDrive40, but not confirmed yet. I'll have that for seven days and several thousand kilometres.
Oh I'm not saying either is efficient but that the range is not far off the Model S which almost everyone would say has great range.
That said I'm looking forward to your data.
It's an interesting topic for me.

In winter I'm getting about 300km from our iX 40, in summer it was pretty much bang on WLTP of 415km, my best was from where I live to Trondheim and back, where I managed 468km. All driven in extreme silence, it's a remarkably silent car.

I didn't get an iX in the end. I got a Nio ET7. It's too soon to make a judgement, but I'll know more after I've driven to Hamburg and back.

My Taxi to the airport yesterday was a NIO ET5, the first one I have seen as a taxi. It was a very quiet and comfortable car to ride in.

This is how you buy a great product. Invite journalists and end users to experience the car before launch. This allows Porsche to de-risk the launch by gathering feedback now rather than after press reviews.

Had it for two days in the end, but I returned it (you needed to have and load an account into the car to be able to access basic functionality such as the entertainment) and now I have a G60 520d. My first time driving the new 5 Series.

Apart from the infotainment kerfuffle how was the NIO?

Took the following screengrab of half of the car's front end - it doesn't look half bad. Flatter, more expressive and sharper than I thought [in a good way], and the black conceals that unsightly lower headlight.

Only a few days to go before it's all out in the open. Can't wait to see it to make a judgment once and for all.

That front end, if it was not for the silly split headlights, would look almost perfect.

If only the slitty little headlights on top were vertically enlarged a touch, I'm sure the main beams could have been integrated within for a one-piece unit [reference: Taycan] and we could have avoided that nasty split headlight arrangement altogether. I'm really hoping the final look come the reveal is better tied together, but... sigh.

Me neither is a big fan of the split headlights, but they don’t bother me too much. What I don’t understand is why everyone are suddenly making these split lights now. Citroen has been doing this for a decade, and few of the newcomers are actually integrating the lights as good as them.

It's hard to say as I had it for two days, and throughout there was heavy snow on the ground. I found the interior pleasant and quite a nice place to be. They're clearly aiming straight for Tesla. 4WD was useful in the snow. Surprisingly small boot for such a large car.
