It’s just not very SL aesthetic though is it?
That is already fast becoming a reality where I live. Was playing around with the BMW configurator and specced up similar i4 M50 vs M440i Gran Coupe. The i4 was €80k and the M440i was €104k. You must really want the ICE over electric to pay a €24k premium. But ICE vehicles will most likely be taxed into obsolescence in 10-15 years time making them prohibitively expensive to own and drive.

I like the last one.
I got my 2005 SL55 in the US for $125K (actually lower as I got a floor show car), and when I went back to Beijing, it cost $430K after taxes locally. That is already fast becoming a reality where I live. Is the rise in frt affecting the sales of the new s class there?Yes, same deal in Hongkong. The government raised the first registration tax on all ICE cars by some 15% (now stands at about 130% of the price a car) and all annual registration renewal fee by about 20%.

Love this shot!
It is a simple classic, old-world design mixed with some of the latest Mercedes AMG themes, nothing is fussy or overly designed. Amazing how it is larger than the last generation.
This will definitely have appeal to the current SL owner. The SL55 and 63 are stepping stones from the last generation.
