Defender [Renders] 2019 Land Rover Defender

The Land Rover Defender (initially introduced as the Land Rover One Ten, and in 1984 joined by the Land Rover Ninety, plus the new, extra-length Land Rover One Two Seven in 1985) is a series of British off-road cars and pickup trucks. They consistently have four-wheel drive, and were developed in the 1980s from the original Land Rover series which was launched at the Amsterdam Motor Show in April 1948.

What an utterly heart breaking leak for the Defender team. I like what I see though. The design lends itself to both utilitarian and luxurious specs. My favourite aspect is the single screen on the centre console. It’s a refreshingly clean look.

Thankfully the gas pedal says go and the brake pedal says stop. Wouldn't want anyone confused when looking down trying to figure out which one to use...

I think this shows they are going in the right direction, JLR doesn’t need another luxury SUV, they need a ruffty tuffty SUV.

Yes but how the G-Klasse has went from Work horse to high-luxury and high performance. You just know they will "Range Rover" the shit out of it for such an additional model aimed at that wealthy customer base.

New Land Rover Defender Takes Off All Camo In Exclusive Rendering

When traditions meet modern technologies.
The successor of the legendary Land Rover Defender is almost here. We won’t see it for at least another few months though and we decided to ease the wait until the official debut arrives with an exclusive rendering of the off-roader. We asked our artists to imagine what the two-door Defender 90 could look like – and the result is this cute but brave high-riding warrior.

Let’s face it – the new Defender is going to be an all-new product and the British marque has already admitted it will try to attract new customers to the brand. Basically, this means the design won’t be as rugged as the original Defender and will instead future styling cues from the rest of Land Rover’s models.

Range Roverand Discovery. LED headlights will be part of the equipment in the more expensive trims while the regular variants, we expect, will feature standard halogen lamps.

Seen here is the two-door version of the 2020 Defender which should be the most capable off the road of the entire lineup. Its short overhangs in combination with the raised suspension will probably allow it to cope perfectly with steep hills, snow, dust, and mud.

At launch, under the hood of the resurrected off-roader should be a 2.0-liter turbodiesel, which will be joined by a hybrid powertrain later during the SUV’s lifecycle. It will be interesting to see what will power the vehicle in the United States, where it will arrive in 2020.

The two-door Defender is expected to launch together with a longer five-door modelwhich will have significantly more room in the cabin. Additionally, a pickup body style is believed to be in the works as well, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

You can still get a workhorse G, they haven’t abandoned that market, nor have they abandoned the military market.

2020 Land Rover Defender 110 Polishing Its Road Manners At The ‘Ring

icy-cold climate of the Arctic Circle but this is the first time we get to see it on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

This is likely the most significant of all sightings so far because it is very telling of the shift in the 2020 Defender’s philosophy. While its predecessor was an off-roader to the core that performed rather poorly on paved surfaces, the new Defender aims to be a more accomplished all-rounder.

Can you ever recall an instance where Land Rover tested the previous Defender on the Nürburgring? Neither can we, that’s what makes this sighting so unusual. However, if you read a thing or two about the upcoming Defender you won’t find anything surprising about this Nürburgring testing session.

Unlike the classic model, the new one will ditch the body-on-frame architecture for a new aluminum-intensive monocoque platform that features an independent rear suspension. This solution results in a lighter and stiffer body, with obvious benefits for on-road dynamics. As the spy photos show, the 2020 Defender exhibits noticeable body roll but not as much as one would expect from a vehicle carrying this nameplate.

The new Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA) will also allow the new Defender to accommodate different drivetrains including internal combustion engines, mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid systems, as well as fully electric powertrains.

There’s not much to report on the design front as the boxy Defender 110 prototype continues to carry heavy camouflage. Land Rover will also offer the Defender in a short-wheelbase 90 version, and both body styles will use 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline and diesel units in the entry-level versions and 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder gasoline and diesel power plants with mild hybrid assistance in the upper-range models.

The all-new Land Rover Defender will debut towards the end of this year, possibly at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and will go on sale in early 2020.

You just have to take one look at these photos of a "Defender" - on those rims and tyres, cornering the 'Ring - to know... ain't no new Defender, in anything but name, coming to a showroom near you.

Yes. I can see them "Range Rover"
the shit out of it as well as possibly an SVR. The market certainly exists for both of them for customer and profits.

Then it's of no interest.

I have no interest for a unibody Defender as I always regarded it as a tool.

I've got some experience in proper off-roading from my years working as site engineer, when we used to have a few Suzuki Jimnys and Samurais, a couple of 4x4 Navaras. All those vehicles would perform exceptional under the conditions. The most impressive moment was when I managed to drive a 1.5t 2-axle generator hooked up the 1.0l Samurai up to speeds of 80 km/h. One of the most scary things in my life.

The then boss was driving around mostly in a RAV-4 and we would pull him from the mud almost every second day.
