I'm not sure if there is that option, but in any case the ML still remains the SUV, while R is a VAN! My point is that there was no need to produce a 510hp VAN!

:t-cheers:

What's the point of making a 510hp SUV?

There is no "point" or "need" for either. It is nothing more that Mercedes' desire to pimp the AMG brand as much as possible.

Arguing over the point of either is well....pointless IMO.

500 and more hp SUVs we see, something like, 5,6 or more years already and in some way it seems (IMO) more "normal" for me to produce a 500+ hp SUV 'cause the name SUV for years has attributes like big, powerfull, etc., than a 500+ hp VAN whose only attribute that i know for is a "familiy car"!

I hope this makes it clear for you.

Because people want to go fast even though they are driving a SUV. All types of cars will eventually be rocket fast if the demand is there.

Good point Luwlira. I also agree with Merc1 about pimping the AMG name with the ML63 and R63.

I guess I can see the point of the ML63 when BMW, Porsche and likely Audi all have and/or are working on a hi-po SUV, but the R63? As pointless as the R63 is I like it more than the ML63 for some reason. It might be that grey color or the better looking interior of the whole funkiness of the whole thing, but to me the R63 is a more useful hauler that will really haul, if you know what I mean.

i cant see the purpose for a 510 hp van
i cant wait for the day when i see one of those things at a drag strip racin a souped up asian car

I'd take the ML. The R is nice but hey, we already have a minivan in my household...OUCH! I don't care what mercedes markets it as, it's still a freakin van to me. Now now, I know that the Kia and the ML look alike but hey, at least we all know that Kia copied MB while MB evolved their design.

Not to mention the ML is so hot...:icondrool

I want the R63, but only if it looks like the concept from Frankfurt!

That's what I always say , they should have kept it as it was ....

ML all the way. Even though Autobild's last review of the ML63 AMG showed that that car cannot go offroad anymore, I think it'll be a tad more practical than the R-Class.

Difficult, since I like them both.

In the end, I would go with the R-class. That car is so much more exclusive and rare. I see the ML all the time, everywhere.
