The Italian is here - Quattroporte Sport GT

Today we paid the workshop a visit to finally lay our eyes on the car that we've configured about 7 months ago. It was the first time seeing the car in white and in Sport GT trim, so we were noticeably very anxious as well as excited to see how it turned out. Initial pictures sent by our sales exec weren't really flattering, which came at a little disappointment - nevertheless, those were low quality, small pictures - maybe seeing it in real life would make a difference.

Frankly, as I've said before, pictures don't do the Quattroporte justice. It looks way lower in real life, and you can really appreciate the curves of this car when natural light falls on it. I gasped a sigh of relief when I inspected the white - it's of a off-white nature, unlike what we saw in those pictures that appeared to be like 'toilet white' (coined by Luw :D ).

The interior's beige was a little lighter than how it looked like in the online configurator, but it was what I expected. The piano wood turned out perfect, though now I'm cycling in my mind whether carbon fibre would have turned out better.

As for build quality, I was a little disappointed. Firstly, I saw some scratches in the chrome trim. Secondly, I saw some rubber trimmings in the interior running loose. Thirdly, the storage compartment at the front passenger's side didn't have a very good fit. However, at this stage the car hasn't gone through the in-house 'grooming' yet, they promised us that they will solve all these minor issues by time we collect the car. We had the opportunity to meet the technician who would be working on our car, and he said if he couldn't buff the scratches off the trim, they'll replace it for free. So far, service has been excellent but can't say for sure, because we haven't owned the car long enough yet.

Everything else seems to be in order. We're officially collecting the car on the 5th of January - for now, they'll be doing the grooming as well as waxing and polishing.

Here are some initial pictures (I'll take more when we get it officially):

On the contrary I found my pictures to be very blur. It must have been caused by some humidity or something on my lens - argh! Needed to do lots of sharpening to get it clearer... Oh dear, one more week... :eusa_pray

Anyway, thanks Tyc. Yes, finally. ;)

I have no problems with the quality of your pics, bro, they look very nice for me...:usa7uh:

:t-cheers:

So that's the beast? :D

Very nice and congratulations. I was wondering how the interior would contrast on the white exterior, and it works pretty damn good. :usa7uh:

This car looks aggressive and beautiful, congratulations mate :)

Are those 4 black dots parking sensors on the rear bumper? i thought they should be body coloure coded?

Thanks Bruce. The white turned out better than I ever did expect, I'm relieved. Wait till the rain stops (we have more rain this year than any year since 1975) then we can take a group shot of the Phaeton and the QP. White and black, what a contrast.

Congrats!! I'm a big fan of the 4porte. Although it isn't photogenic like the S-class it does look fantastic in reala life. Just try to keep the paint clean.

Keeping the paint clean is one of my greatest concerns (especially we did not really cared for the paintwork in our previous cars) - we got a car cover and are buying some new cleaning stuff. :t-cheers:

Great pics Mirage77, I also feel this is one car that looks even better in the metal! More pics please!:D

Thanks. When the rain stops. :D

Thanks monster.

They have 4 black holes there because they haven't fitted the sensors in yet. Yes, it will be body colour-coded. :usa7uh:

Congrats on the awesome new car, I remember you talking about getting this car.

It looks great in white as well, havent seen one in white before, but it looks as good as black, and I like your interior combination, looks very luxurious as well as sporty. I think piano black wood is the right choice, have seen the car with carbon fibre and it looks cheap to me, because there is so much of it!

I hope you will do a full review and pictures when you recieve the car, if possible.

Thanks BMW_Dude. Yes, it has been a while.

I'll rope in my dad to write about his driving experience. He's a member on this forum actually, maphaet. ;) I won't give a complete review because I've yet to have my own driving licence :t-banghea - but pictures, can do. :usa7uh:

purchasing a car like a quattroporte in a country with an insane car tax is quite impressive. congrats on the car

...just curious, how many of these exist in singapore? i'm guessing less than 5?

Thank you notic. Singapore's a crazy place. :D

You may be surprised but there are about 60 QPs in Singapore.

Some trivia: 200 Ferraris, 60 Lamborghinis, 30 Astons and a Pagani Zonda exists in Singapore right now.

Pictures sound good, I can't believe how hot this car looks in white!

BTW, I can't imagine you'd be about to get insured on this car even when you pass your test, would be a nice first car though!:D

What an amazing car! Perfect colour combination...
Congratulations! I hope you will have a lot of fun with your new car...when will you travel to Germany to test the top speed? :D

Talk about insurance... I don't think I'll ever be able to get insured at a good rate for this car. My dad got a good rate because of his flawless driving record (something just slightly above the Phaeton) and has my sister as a secondary driver.

I'll have my own first car: a Golf GTI, most probably. :usa7uh: The QP is too big and too unpractical for me.

I'll only have fun with it when my dad lets me drive it. :D And frankly I don't think he'll trust me, at least not for the next year or two.

Well seeing as how costly it would be, maybe renting a Quattroporte and then heading for the autobahn or track in Germany seems to be a good idea. :t-cheers:
