Hot! BMW AG: What's Next

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
They are making/have made 50 Skytops. That's not judging anything.
It was a good test or proof of concept for BMW. 50 sound little but when the asking price is €500k, you would have to sell 350-800 8-Series to gross the same revenue.

The benefit of selling fewer at higher prices is less inventory risk. Ferrari has engineered this better than anyone. Despite being an independent car manufacturer they are holding up well solo on the stock market.

Upsell €50-80k in optional carbon fibre + the same amount in paint and you don’t have to take the financial risk of higher production volumes and fixed costs. Pagani/bugatti are doing the same, they are producing even more expensive models and inflating the costs of paint and CF.

There is a gap to be filled between BMW and RR. It will be interesting to see whether limited run or Alpina models with slightly different body panels fill the gap.

Is it me or a GLC EQ vs IX3 Real-World review is taking a lot of time for cars that are already delivered to customers?🤔

On another note,

I always whatever random website I visit, see BMW paid ads. They are everywhere, and I never see anything Mercedes related. BMW seems to be much more on top of marketing, and maybe that's part of why they're so much more successful at the moment:

Stuff like this is everywhere. On random non car sites. Always Mini and BMW.
It could be worse you could be looking at busty broads or chicks with dicks?

I was thinking that yes, but these are paid ads and not randomly generated? Then again, I have no actual idea how this works in the end, it could indeed very well be algorithms pointing towards what I like.

I don't really frequent BMW sites over other car sites, except for maybe Bimmerpost (and BMW.com)

What @Matski said. Companies paying for ads are going to want their ads targeted at the right demographic.

I did not know the facelift i7 was getting 6gen batteries.

Was bound to happen. Can't have your flagship stuck on gen 5 batteries when cars costing half the money are on vastly superior gen 6 technology.

Still, it's great to see this confirmed, because I have to say I too was a bit worried. The 7er and i7 are going to be absolutely cutting edge high tech beasts.

concur..that's big news and a game changer if the ix7 can get close to 450 to 500 miles range

Yeah well iX7 is a massive car, but it'll be a technological power house and obviously the very best EV in this class of cars. Your numbers will not be far off.

And iX5 will mean X5 M power for way less. It'll be gobbled up like crazy over here in my country, because X5 is currently too expensive without EV (The GLE is DOA here).

X5 M is 300k euro with a few options in my market, a similarly powered EV version will be less than half that.

So with plans for both ICE and EV X5M? Will the EV X5M be far less expensive than the ICE X5M?
Same question for the M3?

The iX7 is pretty much alone in the market; apart from the Escalade iQ, I don't know if there's anything else that directly competes with it. I think there are a few in China and the Range Rover EV that they have postponed

I'd be shocked if an iX7 can get 450+ miles on a charge given its a brick and the iX7 isn't going to be big enough to fit a gigantic battery pack like the Escalade iQ.

I'll give the EQS SUV a pass since it's a first gen effort. The Lucid Gravity, which I'd say is tops in terms of EV tech, still only gets 386-450mi range depending on the trim.

What a weird design… But yep, that M3 front bumper is probably the real deal.
