Actually, the Quattroporte is neither a serious M5 competitor nor it is a serious big luxury sedan player. It's a little bit of both, which makes it so difficult to draw comparisons with other cars.
One could argue, however, that the Automatic QP is leaning more towards S/A8/7er territory. The Sport GT is the closest to what an M5 competitor from Maserati is like. It does have CF trim, a stiffer suspension (it hurts on Sport mode!) but I'll agree with you here: despite the engine's credentials, the QP does deserve more power. That will be answered with a new 4.7L V8 in the coming years.
Yes, I agree. But the Maserati boss told us that the benchmark is the M5 and they'll go after it.
PS. Please do not generalise Americans to a stereotype; there are some of them that are like what you described, but there are also many more out there who's well-informed, educated and objective. It's only fair that I say this.![]()
Hmmm, that could be true, I said some and some (who traveled to Europe and/or ask us about how things are, what are diferences etc.). But there are (too many IMO) forums with people who oftenly have the problems I've mentioned, and I'm not talking about the likes of Autospies.
Ours is by comparison a quality site and Marcus is an inteligent person/poster, who's opinions and points I mostly apreciate and agree.
