Called the GT3 R Rennsport, the new model is limited to 77 units worldwide, and pushes the performance envelope of the base car to a new level. Current GT3 race cars are strangled by a Balance of Performance regulatory mechanism which restricts their power and minimum weight, but the Rennsport is free of these regulations.

As such, its 4.2-litre naturally aspirated flat-six generates 612bhp on its way to a 9400rpm redline (55bhp more than the GT3 racer), and is designed to run on sustainable e-fuels. The extra power has been achieved by unique pistons and camshafts, with drive sent to the rear wheels via a constant-mesh six-speed paddle shift gearbox. Buyers can opt for an unsilenced racing exhaust for an ear-splitting note, or one of two quieter versions to comply with track day noise restrictions.

The suspension hardware is also derived from the GT3 car, with double wishbones at the front and a multi-link setup at the rear. Aluminium monobloc racing brakes and five-way adjustable KW coilovers are fitted at each corner, with quick, predefined geometry adjustments made possible by the use of shims rather than threaded suspension arms. Porsche has also worked with Michelin to develop a new slick tyre specifically for the Rennsport, which has more manageable warm-up characteristics than those used in GT3 racing.

The mechanicals are clothed in a fully carbonfibre body, with only the bonnet carried over from the GT3 car – every other panel has been modified. The front cooling ducts and aero fins have been reprofiled, and to reduce drag, the door mirrors have been replaced with a trio of rear-facing cameras that feed screens inside the single-seat cockpit.

The Rennsport’s towering rear wing is designed to evoke that of the iconic Porsche 935/77 endurance racer, with an open rear apron to both save weight and serve as an outlet for the twin-exit exhausts. All in, the Rennsport is projected to weigh 1240kg, or 210kg lighter than a GT3 RS road car.

The GT3 R Rennsport is offered in a range of liveries inspired by Porsche’s heritage, including retro Star Ruby and Signal Orange shades. The firm describes the new model as “probably its hottest track tool ever”, and as such, it comes at a hefty price tag: €951,000 (c£823,000), plus taxes."

Interesting how that massive retro style wing of an old sport-prototype looks in it, taking away the monopoly from Singer who was abusing them

With An Eight-Year Waitlist And $100K Fee, Porsche Is Making One-Off Dream Cars
At Rennsport 7, we speak with the head of the Porsche Sonderwunsch program who makes dream cars a reality.

"That’s not eight years to get your car, by the way, it's eight years to get your dream project started. The build itself can take several years, as well."

Now THAT'S patience.

Porsche: the new benchmark in the art of following the money.

The electrical architecture of the 982 can't accommodate new UN cybersecurity regulations for cars coming into effect in Europe, Japan, and South Korea next July. Steiner estimates that reconfiguring the 982 to meet such regulations would be around half the cost of an all-new vehicle project. In other words, prohibitively expensive.

In other markets without such regulations, the 982 will continue, Steiner said.
So hopefully for markets outside Europe/Japan/SKorea Porsche continues to offer GTS/GT4/Spyder/RS for few more years.

"The top seller in the third quarter was the Macan – up 31 percent year-to-date. The new Cayenne – deliveries of which commenced in Q3 – followed with 6,005 vehicles, up 2 percent year-to-date. The 718 and 911 sports cars posted 45 percent and 17 percent increases respectively year-to-date. Taycan sales increased 55 percent over year in the third quarter to 2,050 units, while Panamera gained 8 percent over the same period.

Also significantly, Porsche-approved Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) U.S. sales in the first nine months of 2023 totaled 28,579, up 20.19 percent from a year earlier."

Porsche hits out at Brussels probe into Chinese EVs

German carmakers will “fight” any potential tariff war between Brussels and Beijing, according to the chief financial officer of Porsche, one of the handful of European brands that does not manufacture cars in China.Tensions have been rising between Beijing and Brussels after the EU last month announced an anti-subsidy probe into Chinese electric vehicles, warning that Europe was about to be “flooded” by artificially cheap cars.

“As a strong German automotive community, we want to fight and will fight against [any new tariffs],” said Porsche’s chief financial officer Lutz Meschke on Tuesday. He said the EU’s move was “not very helpful” for the bloc overall, but especially not for Germany, which relies heavily on exports to China.

German carmakers make a large chunk of sales and profits in the country, with Chinese sales accounting for a third of BMW’s total car sales last year, and almost 40 per cent for Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen.

The EU’s decision to launch an investigation was widely seen as a win for France, as carmakers such as Stellantis and Renault have a far smaller presence in China than German rivals.

Premium brands such as Porsche are relatively rare exporters of cars to China. Most foreign carmakers, including parent company Volkswagen’s eponymous brand, have shifted to producing the majority of vehicles sold in China locally.

Porsche, which makes roughly a third of its sales in China, said the number of delivered cars in the country was down 12 per cent in the first nine months of the year, compared to the same period in 2022, as recovery in the world’s largest market for cars lagged.

Meschke said executives had visited the country last week to discuss strategies with dealers, explaining that a renewed focus on “pricing rather than volumes” had been well received by vendors of the luxury car.

The company’s blueprint for China included associating it with the “transition to electrification” with investments in exclusive charging hubs and community centres for Porsche owners in big cities.

Porsche on Tuesday said revenues rose 13 per cent to €30.1bn in the first nine months of the year, while group operating profit grew 9 per cent to €5.5bn. The Stuttgart-based company is preparing to launch four new models next year, including an electric Macan."
