This is old news. We've been talking about Porsche's allocation model, that's geared towards GT and limited edition models, for months now.

I wasn't aware of it. However after watching the video I went on Autotrader UK. I was shocked to see that there are more Dakar for sale than 2023 Carrera S. Despite being "difficult" to get hold of, there is a wealth of Turbo S, GT3, GT3RS listed for sale.

All of this is off course irrelevant to customers who buy their cars to drive and enjoy, rather than to flip or resell with minimum mileage at no loss.

Well, who it is relevant to is the more regular-joe buyer (as regular as a 911 buyer can be) who places an order for a standard Carrera or Carrera T or Carrera GTS. Because of the limited allocation slots the wait list time is too long!

Absolutely. The long lead time for base models has had a knock on effect on the price of the used 992. Their prices are unjustifiably high. So high that on finance they are not much cheaper than a GT3.

As a result if you want a Carrera S, the choices are:
-Wait 1-2 years for one - depending on options.
-Overpay for a used one.
-Buy a GT3 which might be too hardcore for you.

First world problems, I know, but a bit messed up. Dealers profit immensely from GT models because they can buy them back from customers are resell for big profits.

Cant think of anything less adventurous than buying a non GT or Turbo 911.

One for old men and women, who have money but no real interest in cars.

Theres so many cars out there id choose over a snooze fest librarian sports car base 911.

One for old men and women, who have money but no real interest in cars.

Lets be honest, only few people can extract all the performance from a sports car. A skilled driver is faster in a base Carrera than a influencer with a Turbo. Very fast cars are not even safe in the hand of a rich kid.

"2025 Porsche 911 to Add a Powerful Hybrid and a New 3.6L Engine
The facelifted 992.2 model is set to arrive within the next six months, and the first 911 hybrid will finally come to fruition with between 478 and 528 hp."

"According to the Weissach grapevine, the top-of-the-line 800-plus-hp GT2 RS due in 2026 will also use a hybrid setup."

^ Exactly! It would make the Turbo a real Turbo again. How much power are we looking at for the facelifted Turbo S Hybrid? Something like 750 hp at the very least right?

Madness. My secret favorite 911.
