Hot! Porsche: What's Next

Is it really? It starts at 230k vs 90k for Plaid. That is 2.5x.
For its abilities and brand image. Sure the price is higher but the value of the Model S will probably drop a shit load after each year as Elon Musk is reducing prices, while the Porsche could appreciate over time.

Come on man, no offense, please stop being this naive. Yes some Porsches appreciate, Taycan is not one of them. It is probably furthest from it.

Hey man I am not naive. This is a Turbo GT model and sure will not be built in huge numbers like the Model S Plaid or other Taycan models, so this could be the most wanted Taycan model and as its not easily available so obviously the values will go up.

As if the 911 lineup wasn't complicated enough. There will likely be a 911 hybrid, hybrid s, hybrid gas, hybrid turbo.

Exaggeration aside I think the hybrid model will be a good alternative to the Turbo. That has always been a quick car and tourer but yet comfortable enough to do boring miles in.

The hybrid is going to be the Turbo (s)

There is absolutely no way the prices will go up. The car will depreciate like madness. Like, 50k in half a year with ease.
And they will build as many as they can obviously. This is in no way limited.

Price of the Turbo GT batshit insane BTW. LMAO. 250k for a toothbrush.

Look at the second hand prices of the Cayenne GT in Europe and you guys will be shocked.

In 2021 a new model cost 196,078 Euros. Second hand now they can fetch over 200K.

Prices aren't holding up like this in the states, the 2022 had a 180k MSRP with no options and you can get them for 150k with 7k miles. Will go down more once the facelift goes on sale. Take that, plus the fact that the Taycan is electric not gas, a sedan not an SUV, there is going to be some crazy depreciation.

And this, alongside with the Cayenne isn't a "true" GT product in that Andy P and his team weren't the ones working on it.

I meant this new Taycan, sorry.

And the Cayenne Turbo GT is not for sale anymore AFAIK, so it's an odd ICE monster now between all the hybrids.

Why are you comparing it to Cayenne Turbo GT? Cause there is a "turbo gt" in the name? And you claim you are not naive :).

One is most probably the last V8 only Porsche. The other is an EV that will be obsolete when the next model shows up. and the model after. And the model after...

The Cayenne is one of the bestselling Porsche models and the Cayenne GT Turbo is the top model that is selling second hand at values that are equal or more than new prices. You could say the Cayenne GT Turbo is even more obsolete than the Taycan as its using dinosaur power train technology, while the Taycan is aiming at the future. So shouldn't the Cayenne GT be dropping in value more than the Taycan?

That is not how the speciality car market works. People want last of things that won't be available in the future. There is going to be no dearth of EVs in the future. There won't be many V8 only Porsches though.

Porsche gives some dignity back for heritage brands.
Stunning piece of tech.
The Plaid might still be quicker, the Lucid Air more comfortable but the Taycan will be surelly the fun car to drive and it looks better than its US rivals.

The high-performance hybrid seamlessly continues innovative development of the 911 drive.Frank Moser, Vice President Model Lines 911 and 718

Whether engines or transmissions, some developments required time to mature. In the 1980s, Porsche built the first dual-clutch transmission for motorsport and won races with it. All that was missing for application in series production were control electronics with sufficient power. Porsche picked up development again with its digitalization activities. The first dual-clutch transmission for production sports cars made its debut in the 911 Carrera in 2008. The Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK) combined the driving dynamics and highly impressive mechanical efficiency of a manual transmission with the high gearshift and driving comfort of an automatic transmission. Even at its debut, the PDK transmission was able to change gears up to 60 percent faster than an automatic transmission that shifts gears via a torque converter—the more common method at that time. It also enabled gear changes without interrupting drive to the wheels and reduced fuel consumption. The transmission was a sensational success. More than three quarters of all Porsche 718 and 911 models delivered today are equipped with PDK.

The next big step in 2024 is just around the corner, as Porsche has developed an ultra-sporty hybrid—as seen in racing—for selected derivatives of the 911 model line. “The high-performance hybrid seamlessly continues innovative development of the 911 drive,” says Frank Moser, who now manages the 911 and 718 model lines. “This benefits the driver whenever they’re accelerating. We therefore have a technology that will prepare us for future emission standards.” Typical of the Porsche 911.

A kind of XM from Porsche but in EV, welcome, the market is going to be hit

Very blatant misreporting from journalists.

That's obvious the Cayenne EV with it's near production body and lack of third row space, due next year.

I do appreciate the more wagon-like profile, reminds me of the Toyota Crown Signia mixed with the Taycan Cross Turismo.

Sure? It seemed to me to be the bigger one, the promise

Roof line at the back is too sloped for a full sized three row car.
It may be, but with its "fake chrome" in the profile it already looks super cool, I still see it as much more car than a future Cayenne, soon we will confirm wath it is, I guess

Yes. The shape and proportions are not bloated. So far so good!
