Panamera Porsche Panamera Mk3

The Porsche Panamera is a mid to full-sized luxury car (E-segment or F-segment for LWB in Europe) manufactured and marketed by Porsche. The Panamera name, as with the Carrera name, is derived from the Carrera Panamericana race.
New vs old

Looks to me like an extensive facelift in the same vein as 982 from 981.
You are correct. Even before the announcement, there were doubts whether it would be a new generation or Facelift

After we saw the Cayenne facelift, it seems that the Panamera carries the same changes, even though Porsche says it is a new generation

This is due to Porsche's plan to transition to electric cars

Macan EV 2024

Cayenne EV 2026

It seems that the Panamera EV in 2027 or 2028

these two models of the Cayenne and Panamera are the last cars to have combustion engines

the United States and Europe are putting great pressure on car manufacturers

But Porsche's plan to save the world of combustion-engined cars is going well , Porsche received support from the German Economy Ministry , and has cooperation with Siemens, theier facility in Chile has already produced and tested the e fuel on current cars.

I hope combustion engines remain a choice for customers

I hope this push to EVs does not sink Porsche…. the 90s weren’t specifically a good time for the brand from Stuttgart and they worked really hard on a solid portfolio to get them to the juggernaut status that they are today.

It has new design in and out, new PCM, suspension, upgraded 140-kW motor and 25 kWh battery in hybrids so its new model. Problem is it will be heavier.

Everything you mentioned applies to the Cayenne , Can we say that Cayenne is a new generation ?

By the way, whether it is seen as a new generation or a facelift, Porsche has refreshed Panamera very well

It's a heavy refresh marketed as a new-generation vehicle. This is becoming more and more common across the field. All new exterior panels (even though they look similar), new interior, and new parts here and there, but much of the same underneath.

Current examples: S650 Mustang, RZ34 Nissan Z, '21 Lexus IS, etc.

I will bet you that every sheet metal panel is unchanged. The plastic bits i.e. bumpers are new. In the interior, while the outer dashboard gets a new look, the hard points are identical. Extensive facelift.

I think every sheet metal is new besides the roof. But I would agree that the hard points are likely identical yes.

I wonder what the role of the panamera is going forward given that customers are pushed towards the Taycan. The latter will likely be completely cannibalized by the EV macan when it launches.
