These are the first official pictures of Peugeot’s brand new compact hatch, the 308 which will succeed the 307 in the French carmaker’s range. Its design, which combines styling elements from the 207, the 407 and its predecessor, the 307, comes to no surprise as we’ve already had the chance to see various uncamouflaged prototypes on the road the past weeks. Still, as we’ve already noted before, we expected something more than a bloated 207 from Peugeot. While the 308’s designers followed the same path in the interior borrowing most of the 207’s design elements, thanks to minor variations like the Italian-styled circular air-vents and the different climate controls, it actually looks distinct to the untrained eye. The pictures might be official; however, the car hasn’t been announced by Peugeot. Meaning, no official info rmation -yet(...). From what our sources told us though, the new Golf sized Pug will be available with the 207's new 120Hp 1.6 and 150 & 170 Hp 1.6 Turbo engines with sales starting this autumn.

Very predictable... A slightly bigger 207 - nothing special...

This time Peugeot had the chance to surprise us with a revolutionary 307 and steal much sales from Golf/Focus/Megane/etc, but instead... complete lack of imagination...

Disapointing.. Both inside out...

You can say that again!

The new Peugeot 308 is more than just the replacement for the 307.

It's the swansong of France's outgoing president as you can obviously and plainly notice by the total lack of inspiration on the design.

And for Peugeot and for our eyes sake, we can only hope this is the last Peugeot of the "silk-fist" Jacques Chirac generation.

I agree with Giannis.

But basicly the same can be said for Audi, this is just another design theme (obviously ;) ). The car itself (308) looks very good. But it's very boring and very predictable, because we've seen this design theme on a lot of other Peugeots, starting I think with the very first 206....

...just like Audi sadly.

The thing is, Audi's design theme actually looks good and is successful, I don't mind if it's predictable or not. The Pug's on the other hand, needs a overhaul if it ever hopes to compete with its hot rivals, it's at its wits end.

I think it looks quite good actually. The huge grille at the front doesnt look as bad as some other models.

How long have they been using this design theme already?
After seeing the new 207 however, what else did we expect? :t-hands:

The car doesn't look bad, although I must say that the front is a bit of a overkill.

This new 308 shows Peugeot lacks any new design development and they are confused by their design direction. This 308 looks little different from the 207 and the facelifted 307. What happened to Peugeot design, cars like the 206,306 and 406 were and still are stylish, but this beasty looking 308, or the equally beasty looking 207 and the seriousely ugly 407, and that massively ugly Peugeot 4WD are definitely helping the company to become one of the best ugliest car maker in the world.

Peugeot is engaging is what Audi is doing, which is recycling the same front end design over and over again.

That is true, but at least Audi manages to improve the design (only very slightly) while Peugeot is going backwards everytime

Peugeot

Peugeot is a French brand of automobiles owned by Stellantis. Founded in 1810, Peugeot is regarded as the oldest car company in the world. On 20 November 1858, Émile Peugeot applied for the lion trademark. Armand Peugeot (1849-1915) built the company's first car steam tricycle. They joined forces with Léon Serpollet in 1886; this was followed in 1890 by an internal combustion car with a Panhard-Daimler engine.
